Cat Hasn't Gotten His Tongue- Prison Security Guard Claims Animal Attack

There was a minor incident last evening at the prison, sensationalized by one of the guards on duty. According to his story, he and his partner were investigating a cut security feed when they noticed a broken tile in the ceiling. Upon further investigation, the two men discovered that some sort of animal had broken in and climbed up into the vents. Animal control was called and while waiting, one of the men, in an act of pure paranoia, tried to flush the creature out.

"I figured maybe one of the prisoners had trained their pet to bust them out," the guard told animal control when they arrived. "I didn't want to give it the chance."

The man suffered a severe gash on his arm, which he claims to be from a claw, but his friend attests that he saw the animal when it fled, and it was "just a cat," which led to the guard becoming hysterical and claiming some new type of Darkness monster that can appear before Sirens, or some other horrible creature must have busted into the prison. He was eventually calmed down and taken to Skye Medical for stitches. When questioned about his partner's claims, the other guard said that it was just a big, lanky creme-colored cat and that the only thing weird about it was some sort of odd bone mutation on its head.

"Might be someone's science project that escaped or it might just be a cat that ate the wrong food- either way, he probably just sliced his arm in the vent or something. Told him he shouldn't be climbing up there."

Animal control could find no trace of the animal, but are on guard for anything fitting the description. "If there's an animal breaking into buildings, it could compromise Darkness proofing," Gavin Greene, one of the animal control officers explained. "It probably just wanted to find someplace warm before nightfall and got stuck in the wires and accidentally cut the feed. There's no sense in thinking it's anything more than that until we see it for ourselves, so there's no need to panic."

When questioned about the guard's injury, Greene was quick to respond that there was no sign of infection and likely the animal isn't rabid. "If it even was what got him- his buddy has a point. Cat claws can't cut that deep, but on the off-chance that it isn't a cat, I suggest anyone who sees it to avoid getting too close and call us first."

Greene went on to stress the importance of not engaging strange animals found in the city, even during the daytime. "There's a lot of nasty stuff around, even when it's not dark out. No sense in fooling around with it."
