Weather SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FOR SECTOR 3. Elsewhere cloudy, with a chance of showers or snow flurries developing. High 3°C and a low of 0°C (37deg;F/32°F)

Strange Weather in Sector Three
Late last night and on into the morning, a strange freak storm started up somewhere around the center of Sector 3. Thick black storm clouds, thunder and lightning, high winds and snow furies were reported starting last night, carrying on into the late morning. The storm started up out of nowhere, causing some property damage around the center of sector three. Snow this morning stacked up about 5 feet against some buildings, tapering off about 6 blocks away from the sector. Sources say the storm suddenly disappeared just as fast as it appeared.

Several businesses were unable to open this morning due to the thick snow blocking walkways and storm fronts. Brooke's, Seventeen and Proud, UnderMens, Staples and Anne's Cafe and several other small businesses were all closed this morning due to the storms. Embarrassingly, even the central post office expects a delay till noon. Stay tuned for school closures and the re-scheduling of SPU fall semester finals. Several businesses are AGI-funded, leading to an investigation in order to fund the repairs of the damaged properties. It is unknown how the storms started or ended but meteorologist assess that it could be the doing of a weathermancer or other weather-controlling citizens.

Darkness ‘Suicide Pact’’ Found

For a second time this year, a group of adolescents have gone missing, and are believed to have committed joint suicide. Last spring several of High School Seniors left the island by boat, hoping to best the Pull. Some of their bodies were found smashed against the rocks on the south side of the island. This time, it appears that five teenagers have decided to put themselves at the mercy of the Darkness.

As of this morning, the five young people who penned the following note have been reported missing, this last correspondence was found taped to the back seat of a school bus by a bus driver at the depot yesterday evening, shortly before sirens:

To our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, teachers, and all of Siren's Port,

Our whole world is built on a lie.

The lie gets bigger and bigger as we grow up. We'll make something of ourselves, we'll be happy and find a place in this city, loyal to who we need to be and terrible to everyone else, and that's enough. It's okay that the Core controls us and the Pull keeps us from leaving. It's okay when the Darkness snatches our friends away and destroys entire lives. Like all the generations before us, we're going to keep going and we're going to be just fine. We're all fine, we're all happy, and anything can grow up to be anything they want to be. That's the lie. This island is a prison we can't leave.

Kids our age are supposed to leave the nest. But we can't. There's nowhere to fly away to.

There's nowhere to go. Nothing to do but give in to the Darkness.

Only the Darkness can cleanse us,
Only the Darkness can save us,
So we'll give ourselves to the Darkness
Goodbye to this ugly prison.

Yours with love,
Alison Mitchell, Jamie Pierce, Maria Dunne, Andrew Yu, Priscilla Devera

The distraught parents of these children, including executive members of rivaling AGI and SERO departments, a SERO pharmaceutical developer, a M.A.N. Committee Member and Security Guard at the Grand Lenore, claim that they were unaware of their children having any kind of emotional problems or suicidal thoughts, and that they weren’t even aware this particular group knew one another. Teachers had varying reports of their student’s well being, but also expressed confusion that some of these juniors and seniors would plan to forfeit their lives. Several schoolmates claim that all five were friends who rode the backseat of bus 24, and that they had seen The Answer two weeks ago on opening weekend.

Police are asking anyone who has seen or heard from these teens to please come forward, as no bodies have actually been found.

A leading SERO psychologist, Dr. Marina Brackworth, has been asked to give her opinion on the matter. She cautions that in the darkest part of the year, depression peaks. She urges anyone considering suicidal thoughts to contact the Eberhardt Institutes's help hotline, and to remain safely indoors after siren.

- Felton Denies Incendiary Production Provides ‘The Answer’ For Troubled Teens

In a follow up article, an interview this morning with Michael Angelo Felton, artistic director, playwright & producer behind the current production shows the young Felton to be largely unconcerned with both the play’s critical reception and the recent alarming news of teen suicide spurred by his masterpiece. He dismissively denies that this copycat was influenced by his work in any way, regardless of the lyrics to his opera’s most passionate refrain appearing in the body of their suicide pact letter.

Nonetheless, Felton Senior, the theatre’s owner, pulled the production immediately this morning. The remaining three performances before scheduled closing night on Friday have been cancelled, with the box office redistributing tickets for any 2012 production, or exchange for matinee tickets to any of the Annual Holiday Revue shows. Opening for this seasonal favorite has been moved up to this weekend.

Cast members were unavailable for comment, though press will be circling the Felton like vultures for the remainder of the week, aiming for interviews.
