Mm, a birthday is very simple. It is a yearly event, un anniversaire, to celebrate the day that one was born. It is usually celebrated by bringing the person wrapped presents, and those invited to the birthday party gather around and eat cake, sometimes a full meal beforehand. [In his case, it's really his day of independence, the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille. But that's not important right now.]
