Please--
[The NV is being held in unsteady hands, Artemis's pale fingers blocking much of the would-be video.]
Please, I can't--
[He's distressed, his thought jittering and discordant, overlapping one another to create a strange thrum of sound, familiar to what has been heard
before. He lifts his NV, a small pink orb, as if to ward off some approaching calamity, but all the video shows is a small crowd of curious onlookers gathered around a weeping woman.]
Thank you, thank you, you've saved them.
[She continues to press in on Artemis, and when he refuses to let her hug him, cringing back, she gets on her knees with her hands clasped reverently.]
I didn't I can't.
[The crowd shuffles curiously, someone coming to ask the crying woman what's going on, she's more than happy to tell them.]
He saved my children, the doctors would have left them to die. A month it's been, with no help. He just looked at them and they were right as rain in a few days, I saw it!
[The news spreads excitedly, and Artemis is hemmed in from all sides with eager questions: my son, my daughter, my husband, my wife can you--]
No! Get-- Get
away from me. I can't save you--
[No one is listening and Artemis curls in on himself, sending through the NV pitifully,]
please. please. help me. I can't. I can't do anything.
This is the boy, our miracle!
