Citywide Kindness Epidemic: Enchantment or Something More?
Siren's Port has been experiencing a great deal of generosity these past few days, but as things seemingly turn to normal, not everyone is happy with what's happened. A few wealthy bankers have asked for their money back from the charities they've donated to. People are retracting statements left and right. But the most curious piece of news comes from an article about a meeting between Lord Italy DeDrago and Robert Stone III, the heads of SERO and AGI.

On Monday night, both cousins met at a private restaurant in the heart of the city where they called for an evening devoid of business and anger. They rented out the entire restaurant for the evening and were there all night discussing odds and ends. Both cousins have since gone back to their usual closed doors, but each has sent a spokesperson out to make a public statement concerning the last few days.

SERO scientists, by order of Stone, have been dispatched down to the diamond to take readings from the Core. "We believe this may have been a malfunction," Sarah Middleford, Stone's spokeswoman, said. "We're checking to be sure there's nothing going on, just to be safe."

DeDrago's people, however, believe it was the fault of a few people in the city. "It's possible that this was an enchantment of some kind or perhaps a powerful person's ability gone awry and manipulating others against their will," Shaun Puliz said. "While there's no confirmation of this, we've certainly seen stranger things."

Both companies will be investigating the matter until further notice. This reporter, however, notes that it's a shame that no one seems capable of appreciating the past few days for what they were and just leaving well enough alone.

-A two-pound poodle in Sector 3 is being hailed as a hero today after rescuing her owner's son from a fire that destroyed a townhouse. The fire broke out early Wednesday morning in the basement of the building, firefighters suspect from insufficient darkness protection around the boiler. It quickly spread out of control and engulfed the townhouse, setting off smoke alarms and alerting the people inside.

After Barbara Grandam and her 18-year-old daughter Sophie escaped the blaze, Barbara's dog Chintzy, a two-year-old toy poodle, was rescued from the burning wreckage by firefighters. But the scrappy little pooch refused to stay outside. She rushed repeatedly back into the building until one firefighter decided to follow her. Leading the firefighters into the basement, Chintzy pointed out the unconscious body of 12-year-old Trevor Grandam lying on a couch. Firefighters were able to rescue the boy and dog, who were both treated for minor smoke inhalation.

According to his mother, Trevor had protested when the family decided to purchase the yappy little dog. "I wanted a big dog like you see in the movies," said Trevor from his hospital bed. "But forget big dogs. Chintzy is my hero."
