[Good evening, Siren's Port! A man, appearing in his late 20's, or perhaps early 30's is seen onscreen, with coiffed dark hair and perfectly groomed moustache. This would be a one Doctor John Seward, resident psychiatrist.
Here, he is seated within his study, preoccupying himself among his many papers of the routine follow-ups for the local

When are your office hours?

At the Newcomer Clinic you can usually find me before 11 or after 4 during the week, though that largely depends on when you'd like to come. I'm certain we could set up an appointment for you.
[Generally he is there early mornings or later afternoons, 2-3 times a week, schedule permitting. As of late however he found himself there on weekends as well.]
Are you attending school?

[He'd purposefully schedule him earlier then, since he didn't want him to be walking in the Darkness by any means.]
And, is this for a psychiatric or medical consultation?

It's psychiatric, though I dunno if it's really gonna do much good.
Back home I was seeing someone. About two years ago - three, now that I've been here in Siren's Port for over a year - I suddenly lost my memory. She was helping me with that.

[He listens, carefully. Amnesia? Most peculiar. He'd have to ask him more about that on Wednesday.]
And have you seen any other doctors in your time here?

[Could be relevant, as such details often prove to be in the long run...]

Are you allergic to cats or anything?

Cats...?
[A somewhat odd question.]
I....Not that I'm aware of.

[Ritsuka is small and slight - definitely short and extremely underweight for his age. His hair is long-ish, dark and soft, his eyes a purple-dark hue. He's dressed in oversized loose sweater with a tanktop beneath, collarbone showing.
But what's really interesting is what's on top of his head - two soft black cat ears.]
I have a tail, too.

Truly, it was fascinating to see such a sight. Victorians would have designated his condition to "freakery" had he been shown about in London, and if he'd been entirely misfortunate as to run into a less-than-reputable individual he would've been exploited or taken to a circus.
Interesting how the shock which played upon his face quickly was diminished, as acceptance was...far more broad here in definition than back home. Then again Seward himself had worked with all sorts of...unbelievably deformed persons back in the asylums.
There's a bout of silence before he can manage a response, but he'll not make a fool of himself by being rude to his soon-to-be patient.]
Really...That is remarkable. You said that you come from a place where all persons are born the same way...Is it a inheritable trait then?

[He shifts, his ears flicking a little, his mouth drawn in a frown.] Look, I know it's weird, but it's all I've known my whole life before coming here. It's kind of weird for me to talk about.

I don't fault you for that, Mister...? I would say the very concept of what is considered "weird" is subjective, especially given the range of traits and abilities here. I am curious, if you'll permit me to inquire: How does one lose an inheritable trait when they're an adult if the appendages...Are manifest?
That is to say, how might such a change take place?
[Was it anything like a tadpole losing its tail when it turned into a frog?]

[He takes a deep, long-suffering breath.]
Your ears and tail fall off when you become an adult.
When you lose your virginity.

[Aoyagi Ritsuka...Another Japanese name. There was quite a number of them here, wasn't there?
A mild cough. Oh.]
I see. Well, I don't imagine that would have anything to do with your bout of amnesia, so nothing we'll need to investigate.
