[The entire headquarters looks more... festive than it did the day before. There are poinsettias everywhere, in vases, in garlands, growing everywhere. Bright reds and pinks and whites. It looks like someone decided to get into the Christmas Spirit disgustingly early this year

[He makes one bloom in his hand, and hands it to Axel with a bemused smirk.]

So have they got you on landscaping duty these days, or is this just a side hobby now? [He's not sure he wants to know if the teaching job went south or not.]

I have been assisting Vexen, actually. I have been learning quite a bit, which I imagine must disgust him to no end.
[He takes a quick glance around at his efforts.]
No, this is simply a matter of adding some color. I imagine the the weather will only get more dismal and gray as the season wears on.
[He takes in Axel in the suit again. Marluxia himself rarely wears a suit, as he rarely has time to change after getting out of school.]
What have they been having you do lately?

[The Eyebrow lifts another smidgen or two as he notes Marluxia kind of eyeing him. ... Right then. He folds his free hand over his chest and takes a sip of coffee.]
Oh, you know, a little of this, a little of that. The more things change the more they stay the same, right? [Well it's true enough. Even if racketeering isn't quite what was in the job description last time around, the overall package is about the same.]

[Marluxia looks away with a slight eye-roll. He's not interested, he just appreciates the look of the flower.]
Of course.
[He glances around the building.]
All of... this seems a bit of a change, however.

[He refrains from an amused snicker then--hey, dude, you're the one who was a leeeetle too friendly and forthcoming in the bar that night. Even if it was just the alcohol talking.
[Another sip of his coffee and Axel shrugs one shoulder.]
A bit, yeah; it beats its predecessor though, I'd say. S'kind of a refreshing change of pace, if nothing else. [It's kind of nice to have an office. And an assistant, even if Jeremy's kind of neurotic.]

[He rubs his chest a little. At the Academic took care to make sure that he would heal from the surgery.]
It almost feels freer, somehow.
[Even though it isn't really.]

[He rests his coffee against his chin and frowns.] Something like that. If nothing else it's nice to think that the Organization's proverbial wings are partially clipped here, more or less. [Axel didn't do so well living the life of a fugitive after all--it's good to know that if they did decide to try and kill him again it would be more troublesome for them, at the very least.]

[He conjures up another poinsettia, and then another, slowly and somewhat absently building a new chain.]
Perhaps this gives us the opportunity to spread our own wings for once.
[Even though he had spent two years prior alone, he hadn't really spent them contemplating his condition in life. Avoided thinking about it, even. And why would he have to think about it? He had been the only Nobody in the Apartment buildings by and large, and few seemed to notice that he was lacking in any regard. With most of the Organization around, and with Xemnas' plans in ruins (or so it seemed, anyway), they each had to learn to cope with their condition and "move on with life".]
