What? No. Because the population is so small and there's no real government intervention upon them, the companies are free to run the island as they like. People can't leave, so they never have a shortage of customers, and no outside power is going to intervene. The Core is just a means to their end.

Can't say. I'm sure there's plenty of company loyalists who want off this damn island, but if they were to do that, the world at large wouldn't be too tolerant of their policies.
