- Chitose Kaneko, the psychic medium who was helping in the Missionworth Lighthouse expedition, was found washed up on the shore early this morning. SERO had its team down there since yesterday due to radio silence and immediately took the girl to SERO Hospital. She appeared to have suffered several wounds and possibly from a concussion but no doctors or personnel have been available for commentary. The other members of the team have yet to show themselves or make contact. Reporters are being kept from the hospital until SERO can question the girl first, though it's anyone's guess how long that will be.

- In accompaniment to today’s news of the failed expedition, a Missionsworth historian from Siren’s Port University has contributed a short archival piece, pointing out a few interesting tidbits of lighthouse history from the limited existing records of the early city in the public library’s collection.

It was constructed in 1911, one of the earliest structures built on the island, and one of the few originals still standing. A large rock outcropping off the south eastern coast, suitable for a tall towering lighthouse, was chosen to be its new home. Logically they should have built it closer inland, but because of the way the land mass was formed, it was better to stick it further out in the waters. Construction took over 11 months, and there were 12 labor casualties during construction due to various accidents. We do not know exactly how these men died, their obituaries are no more than a listing of names, a pencil-rubbed etching on file which is a copy of a commemorative plaque that once stood on Lighthouse Isle, dated from 1912. The plaque itself remains lost to time.

The Missionworth Lighthouse used to be the only light on the shore to guide ships into the docks and away from the cliffsides and other natural difficulties that took so many ships long ago. Some early settlers believed the bizarre lighthouse deaths marked the beginning of the “Missionsworth Curse”, which we now know to be the effect of The Core phenomenon, which grants new arrivals powers or awakens dormant innate enhancements. The lighthouse was occupied and operated by the Missionsworth Militia, and abandoned for several years after the 30’s meltdown which claimed the lives of all but a lucky handful of island residents and left the Darkness in its wake.

However, today the most popular urban legend surrounding the foreboding haunted lighthouse revolves around a naval captain who took up the job of lighthouse keeper in the late 30’s and early 40’s. Tomorrow’s half of this two-part history feature will follow with an attempt to separate truth from myth.

-Lefty Strikes Again The left arm bandit, simply known as “Lefty” has done it again, this time with purpose. Cedric Vauhn (28) a jewel expert at Sierra Jewelry and Fine Figures was attacked last night just outside the shop. Two men found Vauhn and swiftly delivered him to medical facilities. His left arm was missing. Carl Dames, owner of Sierra Jewelry reported that the vault had been opened when he returned to the shop this morning. “The vault only opens by finger scan.” he stated, giving police a new lead to possible motives for Lefty. Vauhn is still in intensive care and has not been available for questions.

-Newcomers' Sacrifice Averts Orphanage Tragedy
What could have been an immense tragedy was halted in its tracks last night when two men, identified as Newcomers Kyoji Kasshu and Domon Kasshu, spotted a monster breaking past the darkness-proofing of the Helen Combs Memorial Orphanage in sector 9. The old orphanage is still home to over a dozen children, all of whom were sleeping when the crisis struck. The two men attacked the creature and were able to kill it, though suffered mortal injuries in the process and died shortly after.

"It was the two of them, no doubt about it," said orphanage matron Christina Marone of the pair of Newcomers. "We watched them fighting through the windows, and when the thing fell we of course let them inside... there was nothing we could do for them. I pray their souls are at peace and I will never forget what they did for us.” The two men are being hailed as heroes today, and an autopsy result on their cause of death will be available shortly.
