[Idiot. Perhaps if he were a better man, that wouldn't be the first word to cross Sherlock's mind. Perhaps not. Either way, it's there. Was this what heroism earned you, then? An overly dramatic death and a cavalcade of masked mourners?

He also can't help the irking sense of disappointment-- had he really bought into the fever across the Port that believed with Batman's help, the Newcomers could actually change something?

There's not even a good mystery left behind.]

Sylar?

Is dead, remember?

[Sherlock is welcome to seek him out. He's walking east from the SERO building.

[In a matter of a few minutes, Sherlock will be creeping out from a nearby shadow.]

I don't have time for games. If that murderer is out there again, I want to know.

[Clark hadn't expected it, and so he jumped just a little bit, clutching tighter to Bruce. In fact, Sherlock is lucky he doesn't get introduced to heat vision--jumpy Kryptonian is jumpy.]

Mystique isn't a game, Sherlock, unless you want every villain on the island to think that Batman is fallible. That he's human.

[Sherlock couldn't deny that; he'd kept Moriarty's true nature secret for a reason. Different from these reasons, but he'd done it all the same. He looked at the body in Superman's arms and there was the slightest twitch across his otherwise cold face.]

You just announced that he's dead. I think his humanity is rather obvious.

[The head-- it was just like Carrie. Sherlock set his jaw. That was all he needed to have his answer. Clark didn't really have to say anything.]

There's death and there's death. It can be a mystery, and nobody will be the worst for it.

[Except that the killer was still out there--and Sherlock, he had that look on his face. Determination, anger. He was Carrie's friend too.]

I'm no telepath, but I know what you're thinking. Don't.
