[Frau is seriously pissed off over what happened during his shift at Purgatory.  Even the long trek home taking down darkness creatures didn't alleviate any of his irritation, which was saying something.  As the outer door of his apartment building slams shut, he flicks the NV on.  The sound of footsteps, obviously hard and angry as the pound up ( Read more... )

[Caster considers not even responding, but eventually, she decides there's no harm in speaking her mind. The voice that emerges is calm and reassuring with a pleasant touch.]

You really should calm yourself. Surely, an intoxicated man with such poor judgment isn't worth your anger.

A slightly intoxicated man who drove me nuts all night and made me miss good entertainment is.

Heh. Got what he deserved though.

[With amusement:] My, you're quite frightening when you're angry.

But, really, entertainment is entertainment. There will always be another to enjoy on another day.

Just used to using intimidation when I need to.

Always is, but this one was really good.

Oh, then that is certainly a shame. But if you're accustomed to intimidation, perhaps you should threaten him with a call to the police -- that is, if there is a next time.

[A soft, pleasant chuckle.]

There won't be or next time I'll put a lock on the dumpster after I throw him in again.

Oh, so you're only skilled in intimidation but torture as well? You're a man of many talents indeed. [She's speaking sardonically, but her tone is archly pleasant.]

[Typically he can handle jokes, but not that one. His words come out icy.]

No. I don't torture anyone.

Oh, I suppose that was a bit of an exaggeration. [She notices the change in his tone, and her voice softens.] Is that a delicate issue for you?

[There's an apologetic note, but she doesn't presume. She needs to hear it out of his mouth before she can draw any conclusions.]

I work for a church. I've seen what slavery and the torture that happens there can do.

[At that change in you, he's no longer quite so hostile. It's more of a sadness now. After all, he can't help thinking about his missing apprentice after saying what he did.]

I see. Then it was inconsiderate for me to say such a thing carelessly. You have my apologies.

It's not that big of a deal. Don't worry about it.

But it has shaped your past, has it not? And I do not wish to understate your values or principles.

Moving on, though...there has been something I have been meaning to ask. You work at the Purgatory, right? Are you acquainted with a waitress there, by the name of Miss Ella?

[While Ella did tell her to drop the formal address, she wasn't there to tell Caster to stop, and it really didn't feel right without it.]

Honestly it doesn't matter that much.

Yeah. I know her. We spent awhile talking on a slow night a little while ago.

I don't know if this would be inconvenient for you or if your shifts contradict one another...but would it be possible for you to escort her back home? I know she thinks that she can handle herself, but it isn't safe for a good girl like her to be walking back, all alone, in the middle of the Darkness.

I don't see her that often at work, but I wouldn't mind walking her home. Wouldn't mind at all.
