019 - [video] backdated to late last night

Sep 16, 2011 20:15

[As the feed starts, there's the sound of a rather beastly engine slowing to a stop in the dark before shutting off completely. A flashlight eventually comes on, revealing a motorcycle covered in the taint of Darkness, yet in surprising working condition. When Sherlock speaks, he sounds a bit out of breath, but almost exhilarated.]I'm going to need ( Read more... )

[ there's the unmistakable sound of John sighing. obviously, he's found a fault with this video transmission and... oh god, where should he even begin? give him a moment to collect his thoughts and curb his temper. ]

Something wrong, John?

[He sounds so pleased with himself. Dare you crush that, John?]

Got into a bit of a scrape. Needed a fast way away from the monsters.

[Balls. In five minutes, John, you'll hear the roar of the bike coming to a stop outside the flat.]

[ this wasn't how he envisioned spending his night off, okay. John wanders out of the flat when the sound of its approach reaches his ears and he stares at the bike. ]

[Sherlock easily hops off the motorcycle after shutting off the engine. It really isn't clear how he knows how to ride one, and so far he gives no indication that he's going to divulge that information. Still, he looks at John with a wry smile until he realizes his friend isn't pleased. It fades a little.]

Right. Still haven't mentioned what's wrong.

That might be because you still haven't really told me where you got it.

[ not that John's going to really pursue this topic. after the whole Batman fiasco, he knows how important it is to get a fast getaway from the monsters. ]

It's from the impound lot. [He's not going to let him know everything right away, of course. Sherlock takes out his trust flashlight and shines it on the now still motorcycle, not as sleek as it could be with Darkness all over it.]

Take a look.

I can see it just fine from over here, thanks. [ but at least he does look over the bike where Sherlock flashes the light. ]

[Sherlock raised a purposeful eyebrow before looking at the bike himself.]

Cracked windshield, but no obvious dents. Something collided with it that was smaller than the bike itself. A flying monster.

[Aside from the cracks, there was blood on the frame of the bike, but not a spatter.]

[ Sherlock was pointing out more than John would notice about this bike -- he just thought it was some chunky, second hand deal and he crossed his arms as he listened to Sherlock... until his eyes lingered a bit too long on the windscreen and he shuffled over to take a closer look at it. ]

And... this happened recently?

Yes. [Sherlock furrowed his brow.] The man who bought it thought it would be wise to take it for a spin in the Darkness unarmed. He was wrong.
