[Strangely, for those who may have been watching the feed is at first positively blank. Black, with a hint of subtle light, and the sound muffled-as though a cloth or some sort of cover had been carefully pressed over it in order to keep the contraption concealed for some unknown, secretive purpose.
A faraway voice can be heard, if slightly off in

That, and John is merrier on his Port than Daedalus has been in some time (since his own birthday, maybe, last year, or some half-forgotten night or carousing with Franz).
In any case, he can't really hold the lack of discretion against his fellow doctor without appearing something of a hypocrite, so instead Dr. Yumeno gives a shrewd sort of smile]
Welcome to the modern age, and at a very respectable age yourself, doctor! Congratulations, and a very happy birthday to you.

He has, at this point, perhaps indulged in a hearty amount of Port, but it would seem he's holding it well and is able to maintain his composure if but for the very slight hint of intoxication in his speech. Needless to say this is rather awkward, but he'll go along with the well wishes, at any rate.]
Erm..Thank you.

[Who treated thirty like a breath away from death, probably because he was a Chief of Security, and in Romdeau that was a position which made habit of keeping a short expiration date.]

[There's a soft chortle on his end for a moment before he's able to suppress it, the beverage and euphoric atmosphere making him a little more giddy than usual.]
...Who's this Raul fellow again?

Ah...Right.
[The political figure Re-l's mentioned several times. He'd seen some of his broadcasts, as well. Maybe the drinks were a bit telling on his memory.]
I think I've heard of him in passing, though we've not met.

[Daedalus would tell him of his lessons with Mr. Dornez, his efforts to see though all the impossible superstition to the truth, but now didn't seem the appropriate place or time to inquire about work, or vampires.]
...Does it have any added functions, your new NV? Do you happen to have a mirror, so we can see?

[He clears his throat. This intolerance for anachronistic individuals was telling on their relations, certainly. Enough so that he was somewhat reluctant to respond without somehow offending him with his "quaint" or "prim" mannerisms.]
All the functions you could expect of your average microcomputer as well as some that are not so commonly attributed. He hasn't told me all of what he's wired it to do, at any rate.
[So he was interested in the mechanics of it, was he? Well. John saw no harm in acquiescing. He held the carefully crafted machine up to a reflecting surface nearby, allowing him to inspect it at will.]

[He isn't outwardly enough of a brat to be accused of taking a rather precocious angle on the world, for a young doctor- but it can be difficult to hold back, with Seward and Hellsing. Both as embroiled in the old fashion as he was with his own minimalist sensibilities
The 'microcomputer' looks awfully organic, but there's something to be admired in people who can craft such things for themselves.]
I'm sure you'll suss it all out with time.

[He was intolerant to those from the past, but more tolerant for vampires and other like individuals. His Professor would've found that amusing. At the moment though Seward can't rightly bring himself to care.
If being from a futuristic world like Romdeau meant he had to lose part of his humanity to have limitless science at his fingertips then he'd much rather lose the science and have his humanity.
As for the 'organic' look, it was just that: A stylistic covering, nothing more. The insides were what counted. Plus, it was a welcome reminder from home. At any rate he'll readjust the laptop as before, letting the lens sweep over the parlour room, which was similarly Victorian styled.]
Yes. He'll give me a thorough lesson about it, no doubt.
