[ His body convulsed, tensing as though it would spare him the pain of erupting flames, tearing his body apart from the inside out. A pain that never came. Instead his body was battered and bruised, compressed, tightened. But for the pain of being thrown about like a rag-doll, he felt something else. He knew what it felt like to have torn muscles

...and then he sees the hem and zipper of a very familiar coat, and also a familiar face in the dim image. Tilting his head closer to the little speaker, on the replay, he hears a distinct voice. It's unmistakable.
Oh brother. Vexen? Really? Both of them back at once? Who's next, Larxene?
For once, he doesn't follow the instinctive tug to flip on the voice recording and send out some harshly mocking welcome. It's too loud in here to be heard very well over the heartbeat-throb of baseline, anyway.
So he opts for keypad function. He tries to remember to use full sentences, because his maker seems the type to scorn shortcuts.]
Welcome back. Had a ( ... )

It was still hard to really make out the dull look to his eyes and the struggle to try and focus from the tablet's perspective on the ground, but even with that complication, it wasn't too hard to see his skin was paler than normal. Nor was it hard to tell that the morning sun reflective off of his skin due to a cold sweat.
But he wasn't even paying attention to the tablet, he was just trying to stay awake. And then he heard a ping that rung in his ears and he looked down. The Replica would've been met with a defensive and snappy creator that couldn't make out who responded or what was said. Only that the screen was lit up and there were blurs on it reminiscent of letters and words. ]
Either cease trying to hide behind mere text in your cowardice and speak, or stop wasting my time! [ Hiss, hiss. Also generic response, because he wasn' ( ... )

Don't call me coward.
Too loud here to use the microphone.
You should get inside before something eats you alive.

Well, like creator like replica, so to keep from sounding utterly stupid, he was forced back down to his knees to pick up the blasted tablet. And it felt so good to get off of his unstable feet and settle on the ground, even if he did feel even more humiliated. From this proximity, he could at least make out the text, though. ]
Pray tell, what would eat me out here? [ He sounded incredulous on top of the current snappy replies. He still couldn't quite tell it was his Riku, as it were. ]

Joe doesn't really know what compels him to be generous here, with a helpful answer.
Maybe the fact that he can sit back, prop his feet up on the black-lit lounge ottoman and take a deep slurp of an energy drink/grenadine cocktail to think about how lucky he is to be far away from the diamond right now, and dealing with Vexen in person.]
Monsters. A lot of them are tougher than most heartless.
[He won't realize till after he's already sent that line that it could be a dead giveaway that he's someone familiar, someone known.]
If you go park yourself in the dugout to wait it out till dawn, you could look them up on Darwin's guide. Or you could just hang around out there and wait for the warm welcome.

Heartless? [ Sup red flags. How are you today? Seems you guys really like Vexen, cause you're constantly popping up. So, who exactly was this person to know what the Heartless were? ]
I don't plan on wasting my time idling around like a useless oaf; I've encountered enough of those in my lifetime.

[What were the other members of the Organization, to Vexen? If he had to guess, it would be something dull and removed, like "coworkers" or better yet, "associates". So he smirked, and provided the indicator that would be more likely to throw him for snippy defense.]
pals are all pulling for the other side. Looks like you'll be on your own.

You have no right to make such wild assumptions when you know nothing of me!
Of course I should only expect it from a dysfunctional cretin that can't even grasp simple verb tenses. [ Whooo, letting his voice raise like that was a bad idea. ]

You're going to attract every rotgut cat in the Port, screeching like that.

The list is only shortening; you're doing absolutely nothing to hide your identity in regards to your speech patterns and the blatantly obvious clues you've given.
They will be dealt with swiftly and accordingly. [ So sure he's not up to par, but Vexen really wasn't ever one to just roll over and die. He always had fight in him. ]

[The thought of a pack of darkness kittens clawing and clinging to Vexen is funny. Another slurp of the energy drink.]
Darwin's guide says that when those things catch fire, they don't ever go out.

[ Vexen smirked at the idea, an amusing little expression at the mere thought of anyone wishing him luck. He never believed, nor needed such an unreliable variable. Everything was action and reaction, nothing more or less. ]
Do they? I'll be sure to make good use of that information? [ He tried to hide the utter contempt and disdain in his voice, but it was a difficult thing for him to do under normal circumstances. Here, it was impossible to mask, even if he was already storing the information for future use. His malice was easily read under the thin layer of smugness. ]

Oh. And Axel's here.

[ His only response to the remark was a vicious sneer just before the feed cut. ]
