You can use it to dismiss the advances of someone you're not interested in...
[ She folds the fan and flicks it outwards, turning her head away in a haughty 'away begone' manner. Fan still out, she glances back at the NV, grinning. ]
See? Versatile. Of course if you're not interested in the language of the fan, it's also an excellent way to make faces at people when they're not looking.
[ She proceeds to demonstrate, flicking the fan one way, then the other, her face going from ultra-happy to exaggeratedly sad, and other variations thereof. Her stepsister is going to scold her, but you know what? She's not the least little bit sorry <3 ]
