[ Something has been bothering her since the Core started to yank newcomers back. It has taken days for Chane to gather her thoughts completely, whilst distracted by daily life-- getting started with work, fixing up the minor damage from the earthquake... Her words seem resolved to communicate what she can, although still fragile with uncertainty

[Smiling brightly at the feed, albeit a bit nervously. Her wings flutter.]
It looks really good!

Hello. And, thank you... It turned out better than I expected.

[She hesitates, her wings fluttering again, before quickly typing out,] I like to bake, too.
You live in the boarding house?

Yes. Rin helped me move in not too long ago.

Do you-- mind if I join you? In the kitchen?

A few minutes later, Nill will be out of her room and peering into the kitchen - expression brightening slightly when she sees Chane, though still a bit nervous. But then she spots the remainder of the walnut loaf, and that pretty much gets rid of the nervousness. She wanders right in, pulling out her NV to type on the screen and hold it up.]
How did you make it? I don't know any recipes with walnut.

When Nill enters, the sound of the door opening (and, again, the edge of a white wing) announces the presence of company, and in her chair she turns to face her housemate. Before such a bright expression Chane feels surprised, unsure of what kind of face to make. Thankfully Nill's greeting catches her before she succumbs to nervousness; Chane's eyes brighten, and she writes in her book-form NV to reply, creasing the other pages with her other conversations and holding it up in return. ]
It is a regular loaf recipe but with chopped walnuts. It is my first time trying it.
[ When she feels that Nill has finished reading, she lowers the page in order to pull out another chair beside her, although hesitantly, when she realises the motion might seem a little too familiar for somebody she has just met ( ... )

She reads the message quickly, and smiles to show she has, bobbing her head.
She seems momentarily surprised at the gesture, but not ungrateful. She takes the offered seat, not sitting back so that her wings have enough room to stay out and open comfortably. Nill fiddles with her NV for a moment, debating what to say, before typing out a message and holding it up.]
It smells really good.
--Can you not talk?

The wings opening out not too far from her shoulder catch her attention first with a brief flicker of her eyes down at the feathers, then back up to Nill, blinking as she reads the message. Chane shakes her head, her hand straying to her throat to explain, before she remembers her NV. The question has been posed enough times without the use of text that she recedes to other means to answer. ]
No. I have no voice.
[ Somewhat more straightforward than she ought to be, but half of her feels that to another person who communicates by writing, she needs to be; the other half wonders guiltily if Nill's situation is worse. She watches her reaction inquisitively but writes nothing more ( ... )
