My stepsister wanted to try something different apparently. I don't think she ever knew what an octopus actually looked like, before the ah... preparation.
[ A pause, because she's torn between handling it herself and admitting that hefting the thing would take all day. Neegh. ]
I...wouldn't refuse a little help. It's a bit heavier than I expected it to be - though I think that's because of all the water. As long as I keep the lid on, I don't have to worry about carrying it -and- fending off grabby mitts.
[ Ella pauses to check on the wee squishy thing again, leaning out of the feed briefly. A few seconds later, she sits back. ]
Well ...no, not really. Mandy did all the cooking at home - well, most of the cooking. But to be honest - I think I'd rather get the little guy onto the cart and take him back to the ocean.
Besides - [ She pauses, raising a hand where a tentacle has firmly wrapped about her wrist. ] I can't cook him now. We've bonded.
[Okay, he can't help laughing at that, lame as it was.]
Well, I was gonna say I can help you out, but if you'd rather send that guy back home I can pick up some octopus on the way home if your lame sister wants to try it that much. [A beat] 'Sides, I only really know how to prepare what's already been killed.
Octopus?

Maybe you should let her try preparing it herself? Though she'd probably mangle it so much there wouldn't be anything left.

She's more likely to burn down the kitchen than prepare anything properly in it.

I finish work at the bakery in fifteen minutes, I'll be down as soon as I'm done. Gotta ask this though - you know how to prepare it yourself?

You don't have to go out of your way, Soul.
[ Wait, it was on the way home -- okay so it's not technically out of his way, but! ]
Besides, I have a feeling that when she sees it, she's going to change her mind, and I wouldn't want you to make a wasted trip.
[ A pause. ] But she hasn't hurt her leg or anything - at least the last I've seen her.
[ Because Lame means something totally different, and Ella still hasn't picked up on all the slang. ]
