[See Zoey. See Zoey looking at shelves upon shelves of different kind of wines. With a blank look on her face.]

You know... We drank wine at the House of Night, it had blood in it but that's not the point. I've was in the kitchens a bunch of times but... I never noticed the wines or what kind they were and so I never thought about how many different ( Read more... )

[He can't help himself here. It's sort of his..."thing".]

No. In fact it does not. In much the same way cheeses have similarity but do not taste alike, wines are much the same. The flavour and aroma make all the difference, you know.

[His tastes in wine are...quite exceptional.]

Might I ask as to the occasion?

It was never really my thing back at the House of Night. I was mostly just focused on... [Saving the world, killing immortals-] Studying.

[Zoey smiles and nods.]

Sure. I want to have it handy for the next Full Moon Ritual, as part of my offering to Nyx.

It's also a little selfish. I don't like drinking blood, this makes it easier.

[Telling a complete stranger all the juicy little details? Tut, tut. Either she was incredibly lacking in intelligence or simply too trusting. Sounded like someone was into pagan rituals or some sort of blood fetishism if he didn't know better. ]

Is...that so? You might enjoy something medium-bodied and sweeter then.

[More of a matter of there being nothing to hide. In her world, plenty of people know about Vampyre's rituals and beliefs.]

How do I tell what kind is sweet?

[Well played. If a bit misguided. Here at the Port it seemed such information could easily be used as ammunition if told to the wrong person.

Monsters can have a human face, too. So much for enlightening the ignorant population, hm?]

In table wines, the lower the alcohol level, the higher the residual sugar content and the sweeter the wine. The alcohol content is usually on the label. Or, look for the dessert wine section and you should be able to find them.

I, personally, would recommend a Late Harvest Red Zinfandel or a Cabernet Franc. It really depends on your preferences, though. If you wanted a more ordinary wine perhaps a Merlot would do you just fine. Can't say I'm cultured in the sacrifical arts of wine, however.

I'm certain that if there's a wine merchant anywhere nearby they'll be happy to assist.

[Maybe not with the offering part, though.]

[Such is the way of Zoey's life. It's a regular thing at this point.

She actually takes a few minutes to reply, looking over the label.]

Oh! I see. Wow, you really do learn something new everyday. I think I'll take your recommendation, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. Besides, it's not exactly... sacrificial.

[Yes. Too bad he's a cynic when it comes to things like...vampires and full moon rituals. He's likely to think she's a loon, but that largely stems from a world where such creatures do not exist. The whole experimental island and powers thing is..new for him, at least.]

So they say. I should hope you will be, Miss.

[There's a deep chuckle on his end. He's skeptical after what she just said.]

Do enjoy your...wine.

[She'll have to provide a demonstration someday.]

Thank you, I'm sure I will. By the way, for next time, I'm Zoey Redbird.
