Has anyone seen or heard from a young woman who goes by the name of June? She arrived to Siren's Port about two weeks ago. I haven't heard from her in well over a week, and her place at Tower Apartments has been empty the last few days ( Read more... )

I haven't seen her... but maybe I could look for you.

Thank you. There is only so much searching I can do, being new to this place and limited in other ways.

It's no trouble. I can cover a lot more ground than most people.

So her name is June... what does she look like, again?

The account I gave is the best I can provide, unless you would prefer me to describe the nuances of her voice or the spacing of her strides and such. I'd only known June a few hours before we appeared here, and I am blind, thus unable to visually describe her.

Blind?

[He pauses.]

What's blind, again?

[Snake has heard there are all kinds here, so while he's mildly surprised that the voice on the other end doesn't seem to know what it means to be blind, he isn't offended so much as curious.]

I cannot see. I am visually impaired.

You have really never heard of this condition?

Oh. Sorry.

[He pauses for a moment.]

I lost my memory a while ago. I don't remember a lot of things like that.

[warmly] There is no need to worry about it. It is not your fault if your declarative memory is somehow damaged.

In spite of your own troubles, you have offered to help me locate June, and I am grateful. [thoughtfully] She wears little heeled boots, I think, that click on the floor, and her clothes seemed quite soft. From her mannerisms and movements I would guess she is quite feminine.

Yeah, something like that, I guess. [He kind of chuckles it off.]

My troubles aren't so bad. I really have plenty of time on my hands. It's no problem for me to look for her.

My name's Sissel, by the way.

Sissel, I am glad we've met, even if it is under these circumstances.

I go by Snake, but I will not be offended if you do not remember. [a bit of humor in his voice, but it slips into concern]

Have you seen anyone regarding the amnesia? Were you hurt somehow, or do you remember? An injury to the head can be quite serious even later down the line.

Nice to meet you too.

There's not really anyone for me to see... or, I guess, not really anybody who can see me.

I think I must have been hurt, since I died and all.

I would not be able to see you one way or another. [amusement]

You must know how hard it is for me to believe you are really dead.

Yeah, don't worry. I know it's hard to believe. A lot of people don't know about ghosts, and a lot of people are scared of them too, I've found.

Most people who are dead come back to life when they come here, but I'm apparently a special case.

You haven't shown yourself to be anything to be afraid of. I suppose ghosts have a rather unpleasant stigma. But it sounds like you use your abilities to help others...?

I try to. I don't have much else to do with my time, after all.

There seems to be no shortage of missing people.
