Newcomer Mouths Off, Mothers Against Newcomers Respond Who else is getting really sick of this M.A.N. group?
I can't believe that people who proudly throw around the title of 'mother' would be so intent on denying kids an education. It's not like it's any newcomer's fault that they've arrived here. Is this how they'd want their own children to be treated if they ended up in one of our worlds? Denied even a basic education because of who they are? They complain that newcomers are unemployable but then they don't want children, who are usually too young to work and haven't ever had a job before, to even get a basic high school diploma so they can contribute to society later on?
I think we need to answer back with our own words and voices. I think we should share our stories. I think we should write letters or essays to the paper - to show that we're not a worthless drain on the school system or anywhere else - and talk about how we have contributed to life in Siren's Port, and the hardships we have go through to do it. I came to this place a year ago, twelve years old and alone, and there have been plenty of times it's been hard. When these M.A.N. people go on like newcomers are such a bad thing, it's a slap in the face to how hard I've worked to integrate to life here even though I don't want to be here. I can't be the only one who feels like that.
I'd be fine with starting up a letter-writing campaign or something like that, but since I go to a private school I'd really like some contribution from the other kids who'd be directly effected if newcomers were ever seriously banned from schools. It'd also be good to see some contributions from other adult newcomers who do positive work for everyone in the city.
What we say and do here matters. Let's share our stories beyond this network.
And let's not even dignify the accusations of vulgarity with a response.
