[Accidental Video]

Jul 15, 2011 11:14

[The video comes on to the sight of a paper; apparently the owner of the NV was looking over some documents, and accidentally put the phone on. There's no sound, other than the occasional shuffling of paper, until the paper was finally lifted from the NV, revealing a pale young man with stark white hair, seated like he was on a bed. Soma still ( Read more... )

I'm afraid so. How far from your time are you? [Kyoji comes from several hundred years in the future. He can relate.]

Only twenty-four years, but it's still so strange to be some time before I was even born.

My great-great-great grandparents weren't even born yet, in 2011. I understand how you feel.

[Soma's eyes widened slightly.]

Wow, this 'Core' really doesn't discriminate.

No, I'm afraid it does not. Not that there's anything particularly wrong with living here, if you can handle the monsters that appear at night. The rest is pretty standard - find a house, find a job, that sort of thing.

I'm kind of used to monster hunting.

[Just if he absorbs any souls, then he has to worry.]

I'm underage though... do schools accept Newcomers?

Then you should have no problem during the Darkness.

Yes, though there is still a... bit of a prejudice against them. Against all us Newcomers, really. But as long as you're polite, you should be fine. [It's been working well enough for him, anyway.]

I see... I will have to look into finishing my last year of high school as soon as I can then.

That shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The name is Kyoji, by the way - Kyoji Kasshu.

It's a pleasure to meet you too.

Have you heard the whole spiel yet, or do you need someone to answer your questions, still?

I've heard it; about the darkness monsters at least. Is there anything else to know?

That we are in Canada, in a town called Siren's Port... and that escape from this island is nearly impossible. The further you go away from the Core near the center of the island, the more sick you'll feel, until you pass out.

As far as the monsters go, a man by the name of Darwin Watts has a bestiary available that will give the relative strengths and weaknesses of each monster in the Darkness. There are new ones that appear occasionally, however, his list is quite accurate.

And for housing, there's the Tower Apartments; they'll let you stay one month for free, and after that you will need to find some sort of job and pay for a place to stay, or in your case, start going to school. I'm not quite familiar with the school system here, so you may have to look for someone who's currently enrolled and speak with them. Until you get a job, the Newcomer's Fund will give you some money to get started - food and clothes, that sort of thing.

[Canada? Canada? So not only did he end up in another place and time, he was on the other side of the world. This day just kept getting better and better.]

Thanks for the information.

No trouble. Anything I can do to help out.

... I know it's surprising to be in Canada in 2011 AD so suddenly, however... we've all had to go through that, to some degree. We all know what you're going through. Me, I come from several hundred years in the future, and I was on the other side of the world when it happened, too.
