If they come after you, that will not make you my enemy, madam. No, what will make you my enemy will be if you come after them. If they go after you, that means they've got a fairly good idea you're defeatable. Retaliation, however, especially prematurely, will result in my response. As well as any harm done towards the Cathedral of Jenova.

...I keep their company because they're like family to me. Kadaj is someone I care for greatly. That is all.

So then you expect for me to sit idly by, let them come after me, and not retaliate or even defend myself because, by doing so, I've made an enemy of you. Furthermore, it isn't a question of whether or not I'm defeatable - every person is defeatable if you know their weakness - but its whether or not they deserve to be gone after. Will you take their judgment over who deserves to be hurt or killed over another's just because they are your friend?

You can choose whose company you keep, I could care less one way or another. But I would hope that you know the difference between good and evil, right and wrong, on your own.

That is not what I claimed. I claimed that if you retaliate prematurely, you will become an enemy. You have the right to defend yourself. You cannot kill them anyway. [A slight pause.] I do not care, miss, whether they deserve to be pursued or not. They are my friends and I will defend them to the end if I must, as they would do for me.

Good and evil are subjective. Right and wrong also so. Many people commit monstrous deeds in the name of good, just as many as do it in the name of evil. It is not my place to judge their actions.

That brings me some sense of relief. I'm not exactly one to sit by and let myself be attacked without doing my best to stay alive. I told you once already, I have no need to cross paths with either of them, so why would I want to retaliate?

[There is a short pause. A quick exhalation of breath, a low, inaudible muttering.]

I can't fault you for your stance to protect your friends - even if I myself question the type of friends you keep. But, as I said, they are yours to have.
