[A soft, dull whisper directed itself into the receiver with a metallic tinge, scratchy as though tired and overused.]
Mason, we do enjoy our little games, don't we? I must say this particular tactic of yours does not quite speak with the same chicanery as our usual correspondence. Your people have shown a surprising amount of courtesy, though why

[Might as well make the most of his time here.]
Might you happen to know the name, if not the address?

[Makes a note of it. He'll be needing to get a phonebook, at any rate.]
Hmmm. Indeed? And what might your name be?

You?

Well, Zoey. I should thank you again for your kind recommendation. Should you have any others for a simple tourist like me I should be glad to hear them.
You may call me Doctor Fell.

[ Well. Now she has a good idea what kind of person this Fell person is. The kind that drink martinis for breakfast and considers opera the best music ever; and would probably never have the need to hold a job because he is too rich to have one. ]
Well, er, thanks, Doctor. Though this place is not something for tourists - once you come to the island, you can't leave. Not on your own, anyway. I doubt tourism is this place has the highest revenue.
[ Probably have a degree in philosophy or history to boot. ]

Yes, of course....Though that is somewhat troubling news.
[Again, a..close, but not quite accurate guess. The man known as "Doctor Fell" was an Italian philologist, a combination of literary study, history, and linguistics. Lecter himself was not. But one must maintain appearances, after all.]
Would you mind telling me...What becomes of those who try to leave?

You try to sail on out of here, you get sick. Disoriented. You feel like you have to come back to land. I never tried it, though, because there's always a chance that this Canada is probably not my Canada I'm from. Not that I'm from Canada, mind, but if I somehow leave on boat and sail on down to the U.S, it just very well that particular U.S is not the one I know.
I'm probably not making any sense, but there you go.

He'll listen carefully to her words, since there's no reason she'd lie.]
I did hear it mentioned that I am in an alternate dimension. Is that what you mean..? And if so, to what extent?
[He's actually surprisingly calm for someone who's been thrown into an entirely different universe.]

[ That's good to here, because she was ready to bust a cap when she found out she was in Canada when she was traveling down the East Coast with the only family she has left. ]

[The Doctor couldn't imagine why there wouldn't be.]
Though I suppose one must do a little digging if they want answers truly, yes?
[How coincidental. He himself had been in Maryland at the time...Different circumstances, surely, but some of their stars had been the same.]

I tried to look it up myself but there's nothing much to the answers. Besides, I come from the year 2009, but it's 2011 today so there's that issue.
But people are investigating. Supposedly the thing that brought us here is something called the Core. There's two companies that are trying to take a hold of it so it can fully investigate it - but they are also at war at each other. AGI is nothing more than a big fat mafia, and they deal with stuff like entertainment, but they also slave people - literally. SERO is more like a military, but they will perform human experimentation on their powers and stuff. Rumors had it that SERO has the Core, but no one is really certain.

The Core, yes. I've heard that mentioned before. Central to their little disagreements then, hm.
[Ah yes. That ages' old struggle for power. Authorities of these corruptible kinds repulsed Lecter more than he might let on.]
I shall take that in mind. I do thank you. You've been most helpful.
