Rioting at Funeral Causes Mass Chaos
At yesterday's funeral for former governor Redgrave, fighting broke out that then spilled out into the rest of the city. The first, fifth, and second sectors suffered mostly fights in the streets, for the most part they calmed by dark, but some still have continued into early today, despite best efforts, due to lack of manpower. The seventh sector's garbage and recycling dumps were also sites of large breakouts, though those were quickly brought under control. The fourth sector took most of the fire damage, but between the SPFD and volunteers they were able to get the blazes under control before mass damage occurred.
The Underground Mall was, and is, a safe haven for anyone still worried about tensions. Heavy security is currently in effect and many businesses in the mall are offering discounts to help counter the trouble for families seeking to escape the problems outside.
For the most part, the riots seemed to have been calmed, but there are still small outbreaks. People are encouraged to stay out of trouble and to not engage unless necessary.
Volunteer clean up efforts have begun and are being organized, those that are doing so are urged to inform the SPPD so that they can patrol in the area to hopefully stop attempts at interfering.
Chief Miller has not released a statement, though she was seen actively attempting to help crowd control around the SPPD Department headquarters and sorting criminals and troublemakers. The reporter also feels the need to point out that her office, her secretary, and the woman herself all pretty much told said reporter to shove it where the sun didn't shine if they kept interrupting things.
