[A familiar cowboy hat comes into view on this feed, followed by a familiar figure, that of the rugged Jake Marshall with a stupidly broad grin on his face; even at the angle he's propped the NV up, with his feet on his table, it's obvious he's happy about something.] You folks wanna know somethin'? [Seeing as she works under Edgeworth as an apprentice, she might as well say hello if he's a detective.]

Congratulations, Sir.

Thank ya kindly, little miss. [He gives her a tip of his hat.] It's what I used to do, back home. [He'll just... hide the whole stint as a patrolman and then getting arrested for disguising himself as an officer thing.]

You worked as a detective back home?

Yep, that's right. Though for the past two years I've been working as a patrolman. [Using "work" in the loosest sense of the term.]

That sounds like it could be interesting...or incredibly boring. Or a mixture of both.

Seein' as I got to do whatever I wanted and no one stopped me, I reckon it was more interestin' than anything else.

That doesn't sound too bad then.

Ain't too bad, 'cept I couldn't get my dream job back. [But he grins, catching hold of his hat again.] Though that's all in the past fer right now. [Metaphorical past. He's actually from the future, if you can believe it.]

Right. You've your job here and that's what matters in the end.

It's nice to meet you sir, I'm Haruhi Fujioka.

Sure does.

Like I said, m'name is Jake Marshall, though you can call me jake. You're Fuji-- fujiwha? [He thinks for a minute.] You mind too terribly if I just call ya by yer given name? Haruhi?

I don't mind. Haruhi is fine.

Haruhi then. It's a pleasure to make yer acquaintance.

Perhaps we'll cross paths, detective. I work under Mr. Edgeworth at his office as an intern and research assistant. He's rather involved with the city and there've been detective types in here before, so, who knows?

[He gives a bit of a chuckle.] Yeah, we'll be crossin' paths, bambina- er, Haruhi. Mister High-Falutin' Prosecutor's got his eyes on me. And as I'm a detective now, he's got an even easier way of doin' it.

Did you know Mr. Edgeworth from your world, sir?

cactusnwhiskey June 19 2011, 03:58:51 UTC
Sure do. We used to work together, in a manner of speakin'. Or at least, we saw a lot of each other, seein' as he's a prosecutor an' I was a sheriff 'round them parts. [He means a police officer. Just ignore him.]
