Police Seize Control of the Port

In the wake of Redgrave's assassination and the following chaos, it should come as no surprise to anyone that someone eventually stepped up. That someone was the SPPD, led by Police Chief Aedri Miller.

This morning, she released a statement through the department.

[There is an attached video feed in the middle of the article, and it shows Chief Miller out in front of City hall. She looks tired beyond belief, and she clearly could use about ten billion more hours of sleep, but she's not seeming to let that stop her.]

This is not the time to make trouble. I know that it looks like it is, but the last thing we want is to have the entire city devolve into utter chaos. There wouldn't be a point, not for anyone. People need to go to their homes and go to their jobs and schools and let us sort out what's going to happen.

We will be cracking down of violence in the streets. We will be cracking down rioting. We've already had casualties in sectors six, twelve, and nine. We don't need this kind of thing in the city. Get your act together, all of you. We can all play a part in keeping things safe by not getting started into this bullshit.

But, for the moment, the SPPD is taking control. Consider the port under Martial Law until told otherwise.

[She crosses her arms and looks into the camera with (if possible) more conviction.]

And, while we're on it, both of you, back to your corners. Now.

Neither faction is taking the city. The only thing that is going to take my place, is an elected official. And I am going to be much harder to supplant than Redgrave, take my word for it.

Police have declared martial law until further notice, claiming that they are the only group able to do so run by the city after a three hour debate with faction officials and other members of the city. Chief Miller has stepped up, as the leader of the department, and has allowed herself to be a target in order to get control of the city back.

Chief Miller states that she wishes for the people to decide who is going to take her place, and that she will not be supplanted by anything but a vote by the people of Siren's Port.

This decision comes quickly after Redgrave's assassination, but not quick enough to stall all of the trouble in the streets, and riots and other related violence claimed several lives throughout the city, most notably in sectors six and twelve. The entire force of the SPPD (Off duty and on) plus volunteers are encouraged to do their part in reporting and stopping violence.

People who incite hatred and attempt to cause trouble will be heavily fined or possibly jailed if necessary until the situation is under control. They will not be taking reports lightly, and people are advised to go about their normal schedules.
