Fail-Lock to Itachi:  'Dry Clean Only,' huh. Six costumes is excessive but the job pays well, and she doesn't seem to care which we wear as long as we match. Yours are on your bed.

We're night shift this week. Seems permanent but she's being fickle, so our hours are "prone to change."

Meant to be Public:

Thank you, Sasuke. Hopefully she won't give us too many back to back shifts. It's not the most thrilling job I've ever had, but at least no one's tried groping me yet.

Let's wear that one with the red and white sash on the arm tonight. Picking would be easier if I had any idea what most of them meant.

Have you had interesting responses on the bounty hunting question?

We could always ask.

A few unusual responses. Most responded favorably, I'll show you later.

Naruto's arrived.

I think I will.

Good. Thinking of taking on some extra work?

I know.

We work enough.

This will complicate everything.

True. It probably pays better per hour, though. I have some thoughts about renovations, but we'll need cash.

Yes, it will. Do you have a preference as to how to deal with it?

I don't particularly want him knowing...everything. He's too straightforward. But he's your... friend, Sasuke.

The tips are good.

Avoidance for the time being.

My ... friend. You're mistaken.

We can hold off for now.

Probably wise, though you know Naruto-kun will come looking for you.

I stand corrected, then. I've always wondered about the nature of your relationship.

Mm.

I don't want to involve you. I'll handle this, if he comes after me. And there is no 'relationship,' not anymore. I've worked too hard driving him away to start letting him close now.

What reason is there to drive him away now?

I won't involve myself if that's what you want. I'll deal with him only if he comes after me.

Hn... [He doesn't answer for a long while. When he does, it's quiet, strained-]

I don't know how ... not. To. I've been doing it this way for too long.

[It isn't like he even wants to stop at this point. Naruto is someone he can no longer relate to, and someone he barely knows. Too much has happened in the near-four years apart to change that.

He'll be sprawled back on his bed with an arm over his eyes, wearing a permanent scowl. He didn't want to deal with this.]

[He knocks quietly on Sasuke's door and then opens it a crack]

Can I come in?

You're already in. [It's just a tired grumble. He doesn't want to toss Itachi out, but he doesn't want to talk to him about this either. This had the potential to be explosive in a vicious, deadly way.]

[He could argue Sasuke's words, but he wants to come in, so he pushes the door open and slips into the room. He closes it and leans against it, arms folded]

[First, a confession:] When I was brought here, I was on my way to see Naruto-kun.

Why.

[It catches his attention, but he remains sprawled where he is, glaring holes in the back of his eyelids.]
