[Here he is at last, on video, Clark Kent holds it at a slightly jaunty angle, and after a little adjustment this way and that manages to get his face and shoulders into view. He's in dull, khaki brown, an oversized duster slung over the top of a smarter looking dark suit and white shirt. A red tie is the only homage to his true colours. The ( Read more... )

I don't think Darwin gives out awards. He just works on the monster guide.

Oh-if you go fruit picking, don't try doing it after siren. Grayson's is really dangerous then.

I was thinking more traditional fruit than experimental ones. [Besides, SERO has him on their wanted list.] Something where you can sneak one or two while you're working and you're not going to grow horns or scales or something. [He's laughing about it now.]

There's nothing weird about Grayson's fruit in the daytime-it's just really good. Makes good ice cream, too.

So what does it do at night that's so special that people would put themselves in danger for it?

You can only pick it at night. You don't want to eat it then, though, or you'll get sick. But it's dangerous to go into the orchard after siren-there's a monster running around. [very quickly] I've heard.

You've heard, huh?

What kind of monster are we talking about? One more dangerous than all the others?

Uh huh.

[If by 'heard' one means 'broke in there with a group of friends a year or so ago.']

Just...pretty dangerous. Not something a person should take on. That's what I heard.

I guess I can just smell a story. If you knew more than that...well, it sounds like something people ought to know about. They might take more care then.

A story?

They probably already do know about it if they read the guide.

But most people don't, right? Look at me. [Meaning he's going to look it right up.] I'm a reporter at home. I write about newsworthy things, people's experiences, charity events--that kind of thing.

If you're going to do the news, you probably should read stuff like the guide.

Guess I must have missed the bit about the monster, somehow. Can't imagine how that happened. [Pause.] Though I guess I'm just not really up to believing in the things yet. I've seen them, run away from them, know they're real, but... I don't know. There aren't things like that back in Metropolis.

Darwin's guide is about a bunch of darkness monsters. I can send you a copy if you want.

Metropolis is your world?

Oh that guide. No, I have that one. Just not anything extra special about Grayson's. Do they have a brochure or something?

Metropolis is the city I was taken from. Mine's a world just like this one.

Good question. I dunno.

Really? Just without the darkness?

Well I mean an Earth. With a Canada on it. Not an island full of monsters and creepy companies.
