[Here, have a mildly annoyed looking man with long blond hair and an eye-patch, the glint of metal from his leather collar there between the folds of his black collar. There's the hint of a smile pulling at his lips as he sighs and props his chin on his knuckles.]

So.

[A soft laugh.]I had thought to acquaint myself with this new country a bit ( Read more... )

Three-- three hours? Is everything else besides it not stopping fine?

Aside from going a bit faster than one would think normal, seems to be.

[A soft laugh then.]

It just gets to the end of the line and shifts right into reverse.

They should be fixing it... [the curse of the subway strikes again, looks like.] When did you on? Are there others with you?

I suppose I got on rather early - there's only one other person on here and he's happily sleeping in the last car. Or he was, last time I wandered for a walk.

I take it this isn't the first time there have been issues with the tranport?

There's been issues before, but they're not usually during the daytime. And those problems made the trains stop.

I'm sure they're trying to figure it out-- [for all the good that does.]

[Yeah that has him chuckling a bit, all things considered. Because really, the only reason he'd gotten on the subway to begin with was to start looking around to try to both familiarize himself with this place and find clues to Kurogane's whereabouts.]

Lucky me then, I guess. So...mind if I ask if you have any advice for a newly arrived traveler? Aside from avoid the subway?

Well, ah, did you... arrive in the baseball diamond and meet those greeters? I wouldn't want to bore you with repeated knowledge.

I did.

[A beat.]

I was more...wondering your perspective or take on the place. People used to briefing a steady stream of newcomers probably fall into a routine, so I just thought you might have some veteran advice, so to speak.

-- Oh! Er, sorry, that's... completely understandable--

[uh, uh. right. a pause, then-]

Well... Aside from the subway, I'd advise avoiding the companies. They both have rather underhanded methods when dealing with... people. I'd also recommend never being arrested, but that should probably go without saying.

I think I can manage that well enough, on both accounts. I really have no interest in getting involved in local politics...

[A beat, then a slight nod.]

But if that's also the case, can you reccomend a safe enough area to move to once my month is up? Best think of that now, right?

[Provided he doesn't starve to death by then, of course. Minor detail, really.]

The... other housing in Sector Four is usually affordable and good, if you don't mind using the fund to get started and keep up a job.

Do you have any ideas of what you could work as, sir? [though now really wasn't the time.]

Hm, well I'm pretty diverse, but I was thinking something simple for this dimension. Like working in a cafe or maybe as a cook or bartender. Those would be nice enough, I suppose.

[A short, unamused laugh then before he slouches a bit more in his seat.]

That was actually why I left so early this morning - to go job hunting.

['simple for this dimension?' ... well, it wasn't the time to question.]

The Underground mall has a lot of opportunities for something like that-- and it... doesn't take the subway to get to, normally.

[You got him to chuckle a bit there, really.]

That would be ideal, I think. Thanks for the heads up Mister...?

Call me Fai, and it's nice to meet you too, Allen.

[A beat.]

You're really quite kind to answer all of my questions. Remind me to treat you to lunch sometime... if I ever get off this thing, that is.
