[This voice is smooth, slightly monotonous--and entirely unworried, perhaps in contrast to some of the more panicked arrivals.]
You know, where I'm from, we usually greet one another with a handshake. Some people, they go for embraces, but I've never been interested in close contact with a near stranger. And you never know who has a cold. You can't take any chances. But, your welcome wagon? Could use a bit of work. I didn't receive any coupons for local restaurants or free massages or any of the usual stuff. I was given the keys to an apartment. Which I suppose makes up for the handshake.
I guess this can be my metaphorical handshake. Hi. I haven't spoken with another living person in--oh, a year and a half now. I left my tally marks behind on my coconut tree. I'm a Pisces, I make a mean meatloaf, and I was pretty surprised with the decent water pressure in my shower. Of course, I haven't had a hot shower in that same year and a half, so my standards might be a tad... low.
My name is Henry Gale, and I'm from Minnesota. And I'd really like to talk to your leader. Hope that isn't too cliche for you.
