first clip -【 VOICE 】

May 05, 2011 20:28

[ The feed clicks open to the sound of shifting debris and something of a heavy sigh, like something trying to get themselves comfortable out in the fringes of Siren's Port. There's a few more seconds of this before the person seems to settle and begins to speak - the voice is that of an older man with an English accent. ] ... y'know, this really takes me back.

Did this brief stint in corporate protection out in the Terminus Systems once. Was stationed over on Garvug - miserable place, let me tell you, bound to freeze your balls right off if you let it. [ There's a short pause, and the next words are murmured, as if he's talking more to himself than the network: ] I think that might've actually happened to one of the poor bastards I worked with. [ And then, voice rising, addressing the feed once more: ] I'm getting off track.

So here I was over on Garvug, providing protection for these corporate scientists looking for a way to make the planet more habitable, I think. Hell if I know why they thought anyone would want to live there. Got a lot of trouble from krogan and vorcha packs. Those ugly sods can apparently survive just about anything. I guess they have to have one thing going for them, because they certainly don't have the looks or the intelligence. [ A derisive snort. ] It wasn't really my scene, staying in one place and waking to the same faces everyday, adhering to a schedule and all that, but it paid well so I stuck around for a while. So there was this particular pack of krogan and vorcha stirring the shitpot extra well for these white collars that me and my team were tasked to track down and take out. Next time they hit, we followed them back to the dismal underground bunker they'd seemed to poke their ugly mugs out of.

[ His tone takes on a note of nostalgic disbelief as he continues. ] Except the place looked like it'd been abandoned for... hell, I've got no idea. Years? Decades? No signs of recent activity or those krogan and vorcha no matter how thoroughly we scoured the place. And let me tell you, we spent a good few hours looking the place over and over again, we were that confused. It wouldn't be so strange if we hadn't seen them go into that specific bunker ourselves. There were no alternate escapes and we'd kept at least two guys at the entrance at all times to make sure they didn't get out while we were searching. There was just... nothing.

[ The pause that comes here is longer, lasting almost a full minute. ]

Left about a week later. Never did figure out what happened there.

Anyway - those white collars back in the diamond just reminded me of those scientists, although they were a lot more annoying. Least the ones on Garvug knew to let us be or hazard being clipped by a bullet. Got rather irritated at me being uncooperative, so if all you kind folks can fill me in a little more on what the hell is going on in this asscrack of nowhere, it'd be appreciated.

Oh, and one more thing - anybody from Shepard's crew, I expect you to let me know you're here.
