[Is this really him? It seems too good to be true. She's been down by the diamond already today to deal with the other Newcomers and she didn't see anyone in the fabled black cape. But this means that he's here and that she has his name listed somewhere. She'll just need to go back and figure out which one he is.]

[...Well. She'd best welcome him.]

Welcome to Siren's Port, Batman.

Officer Mayer. [ There's a pause, and you can almost hear the glint of teeth. ]

I didn't think paltry small talk is like you.

I have a job to do, same as you. I'm not limited to the needs and whims of the police. Batman or not, you're still a Newcomer.

But not one whom you have to Greet. [ You can hear the capital letter. ]

[At least he's admitting that he skirted by the greeters. She manages a faint smile for a moment. You're going to be difficult. No doubt about it.]

No, I don't have to, but I imagine you want information.

[She doesn't say "I know you have questions." That would be insulting.]

Spare me the usual spiel you give to the newcomers. I can find that out myself.

encryption // unhackable

What can you tell me that's not on the network?

[As expected.]

Not much that you can't find out on your own, I'm afraid. Some of your friends from home are missing but I'm sure you already guessed that.

[He'll know about Roman's death, obviously. No need to talk about that. He'll find his own resources and income on his own and he probably won't be speaking with Edgeworth or anyone of the sort.]

I last saw him in the Underground Mall when the Darkness-proofing failed.

[That, at least, isn't on public record.]

[ Roman's death. Ivy's disappearance. Killer Croc's suspicious silence. He knows of all of these, and he thinks that- this place. Is almost too easy. So much information accessible through the network alone.

So many people reliant upon it to communicator, and trusting their filters to not fail them. ]

That is after he killed Black Mask. Has that man regenerated yet?

Why did the Darkness-proofing fail?

So far, there's no evidence to suggest that he has. I've been looking into it and so has Sherlock.

[Again, Sherlock needn't be mentioned. He probably knows they're both looking.]

Rumor has it that the Darkness is getting stronger. That's what the news reports say. The monsters that were in the mall have never been seen before. A set of them were in the news previously; they were slaughtered horses that came back mutated by the Darkness.

This hasn't happened before. [ It's a statement. ] And Sionis is taking far too long to return.

Would the companies have something to do with this?

People have died and not come back before. [The skepticism in her voice, however, suggests that she doesn't believe he's gone for good.]

More than likely but we haven't gotten any samples yet from the creatures that are there. When they die, some of them disappear. They always come back the next night and they remember who killed them.

[There you go, something else not publicly on the network. She knows from experience.]

[ .... Oaky, that's- well. ]

When they attack again, are their attacks stronger and fiercer? Or do they remain the same?

Is there any way to be rid of them permanently?

They remain the same except on rare occasions. There was an eclipse late last year and the monsters were extremely powerful and erratic in their behavior. We had a super moon a few months back too and they were surprisingly tame and quiet.

There's no known way to get rid of them entirely, no.

Do their strength usually wane with the waxing of the moon, and increase with its wane?

Not in any special way that I've seen, no. If they do, it's nothing significant or noticeable.
