[The faint strains of music can be heard in the background. Kimihiko's voice is casual and relaxed. He's not used to speaking to a bunch of people at once, but hey. He's not shy.]

The technology here is better than I expected. If this is the future, then they have some pretty good developments.

I don't remember any side-effects from my arrival. [Tifa's awake, she works the graveyard shift at Merlotte's, so she's practically bushy-tailed by now.]

Hit the ground semi-hard, but that's about it really. I'm Tifa, has a greeter explained any of this to you?

Yes, a woman named Yako Katsuragi explained the situation. But she didn't know much about side-effects either.

[Hm... Interesting. He can't really tell what nationality this woman is from her looks.]

Actually there is one thing. Almost everyone who comes here gains some kind of special power if they didn't have one already. It can take all kinds of forms from what I've seen.

[She shrugs helplessly.]

It didn't happen to me though.

[He nods slowly.]

Special power? What type of power?

Seems to depend on the person. Some people can regenerate, some people can fly, at least one person can nullify other peoples powers. That sort of thing.

Hah. Sounds like we're in an anime or something. Suddenly, magic.

Anime? I'm not really familiar with the term. I don't think it's magic perse, I've seen that before. This is more like...innate abilities suddenly popping up.

Ah - they're just animated TV shows. A lot of them deal with stuff like that. That or giant robots. People where I come from don't usually have abilities like that. That counts as magic there.

Ahhh I see. It's the same for some other people here too, their worlds or times don't have these kinds of abilities either. It's common here though, in fact it's uncommon not to have one. Guess I'm the odd one out. [She grins sheepishly.]

So you're from another magic world. I'm starting to think they outnumber the ordinary ones. Maybe it's your turn to be the odd one out, if we're so unusual.

[He smiles cheerfully.]

Mhm! I'm from Gaia, although it's not so much magic anymore. It's a long story.

[She smiles apologetically.]

Here I'm just me. No magic, no abilities, just Tifa. [It's sort of refreshing...because she doesn't consider having innate super strength to be a 'power']

Everyone has abilities. Even if they're not magical ones.

Is Tifa a name or a state of mind?

True, very true.

A little bit of both? [She laughs, grinning like a dope.] Sorry, it's my name. Tifa, Tifa Lockheart.

Kimihiko Ooe. I have to say, Lockheart is a name you don't hear often.

I can't say I've heard your name much either. [She smiles.] Is it...Japanese? I've learned a very little about this worlds nations since I got here.

It is, but it's pretty rare even there. Is it much different here than it is in Gaia?
