All kinds of trouble. The companies make trouble in new and exciting ways. Are you a detective or something?

Not quite. I'm actually in the music business. Or I was.

Huh. Well, I was way off, then. You, um, don't sound like any producer I've ever met.

Oh? I apologise for wrecking your view of the world. [He sounds amused.]

[Eyeroll.]

Uh, yeah, it was devastating.

You don't seem too surprised about being here.

Those people calling themselves SERO already briefed me on the situation.

[He's not the type of person to cry in shock, no matter how confused and surprised he is. He'd spent the entire night mulling it over.]

It's far more than just surprising, but there is nothing I can do but accept it, for now.

[A faint sigh.] So the companies cause trouble for you guys, huh?

Yeah, they are. There's been news about cutbacks in the budget overall, and it's made people want to cut the Newcomer grants and the Tower Apartments and such. Which... I guess that part I can understand at least a little. But the part where they run slaving operations and kidnap people to experiment on, not so much.

Don't think they care. People are used to it. No one thought slavery was bad for public relations in 1700.

It's not 1700 anymore. I thought most countries had gotten rid of that a long time ago. Talk about being behind the times.
