[Despite the lack of his powers, Liquid is reckless as always. He's been out for a while now, his injuries from the Snake fight all bandaged up. Even with his experience fighting the Darkness monsters however, even he is prone to being overwhelmed at times. This is one of those times. Already he's bleeding rather badly, claw marks tearing his skin harshly. Running out of ammunition was a bad move; he'd expected to have more but he hadn't compensated for the bullets he'd wasted on Re-L Mayer. The pain he'd been in that night had distracted him too much. Above his head, the storm clouds are almost black. He's stubborn enough to bear it, however; too stubborn to take the step to run.]

[Maya's fleeing at a speed that even alarms herself (although she had to admit it was kind of cool) when something catches her attention. She screeches to a halt, nearly falling over (is she ever going to get used to this? How did he do it, anyway?)]

[The unexpected squeakiness of the voice distracts him for a moment - does he know it? - before one of the monsters gets a hit in, tearing into his thigh. He snarls and kicks it off, leaping back to place at least a bit more distance between them. Only then does he place the voice. Odd. Is she sick?]

Maya Fey. You shouldn't be out this late. Get to safety!

[He hasn't yet looked to see her.]

[Before she even realizes what she's doing, she leaps in front of him. She's got such a weird feeling. The blood is rushing to her head, pounding, and she's almost.... excited?]

But you're hurt! Y-You have to--

[She screams as one of the other monsters - bigger- tries to take a chunk out of her, but as with the last one, it's unsuccessful. She kicks out instinctively as it makes contact - and it goes flying back. If anything, that just seems to startle her more]

[Awkwardly, shakily, she grabs hold of his torso. She doesn't think he can run with his injuries as bad as they are, (at least not without hurting himself more) and they have to get out of here.

Don't worry about me! I've taken worse damage.

[He stares as the monster goes flying and shakes his head, blinking as he realises he's just been staring. Trying not to rely on her for support, he hurriedly leads them towards safety. It doesn't bother him if he hurts himself too badly.]

I had no idea you were that strong!

[It bothers her if he hurts himself too badly so Maya's just going to hoist him up by his torso and keep running - her speed picking up without her realizing. This is awkward at best, due to the size difference, but...]

[That was the most awkward rescue he'd ever seen or taken part in. The movement has made him lose an annoying amount of blood but he's grateful just to be alive. Stupid karma.]

[As soon as they're at safety she jumps back to put a foot or so distance between them, nervous again for various reasons. The blood is making her a bit queasy. She doesn't correct him on her name]

N-No, but... ah, I should have taken you to a hospital instead...

Besides, they'd probably arrest me.
