[scene w/Kurt has warning for character death and violence.] mediumdrip December 16 2011, 14:25:18 UTC
When the static clears enough for you to see the figure there’s still darkness behind him. Blaine glares at the screen. His hair isn’t the carefully maintained gelled masterpiece it usually is. His curls move down over his forehead and around his ears. His thick eyebrows seem darker than they ever really do, in part because his eyes glare so harshly that the shadows play off the hair. His jaw is tight, rage showing through in the tension of muscles of his face as they move when he speaks.

"You know what really pisses me off?" he asks after a moment. His face moves to the side, as if he’s maintaining himself from punching the camera. "Every single one of you." Each word is punctuated by the cold fury in his voice.

"I mean it. You are all a bunch of cowards. And people have the balls to call me a faggot? You're the idiots who spend all your days here trying to make an actual life. You're the morons playing house and pretending that what we do here actually mattersHe spits to the side, showing his disgust over the idea. "Do you know ( ... )

[ Kurt hasn't tuned in to the Midnight Channel before tonight--he isn't much of a night owl, after all, but tonight he'd decided to have a little coffee and stay up. It's been a while since he and Blaine had the apartment to themselves to watch romantic movies together, after all.

He'd dozed off against Blaine, though, and when he stirred awake he'd wanted to call Rachel and check up on her. The television catches his eye, however, and as he watches his expression goes from confused to horrified to deeply hurt.]

What...?

[Blaine watches. His own expression one of shocked horror. He doesn't remember making any video like that and he wouldn't say those things.

The line about Kurt makes him stop feeling stunned as his emotions shift to anger. Someone must be playing some kind of horrible trick on them. The emotional reaction he has lashes out before he can stop it. All the warning signs that his powers are about to react to something get ignored as the tv cracks, the sound loud and horrible. The glass screen shatters and spills over the entertainment center.

Blaine jumps up at the sound, disgusted and annoyed. He can't even say anything to Kurt. It seems obvious to him that Kurt should know that that wasn't him so he doesn't even bother to try to say it, at least not yet.]

[He shrieks as the television cracks and gets to his feet, looking outraged.]

What the hell is wrong with you?

[Blaine turns to look at Kurt and jerks back slightly from the tone in his voice.]

Maybe I don't like it it when people make fake videos of me and put them all over the TV. [He's furious, mostly because Kurt seems to be blaming him. He doesn't even want to deal with this, he clamps down on his anger, not wanting to break anything else in the room.

Instead he storms off toward the bathroom. He needs to wash his face, hope that cold water will calm him down...

For now the broken TV gets ignored.]

Blaine!

[Kurt is horribly confused and distressed, and more than a little angry. He stands there in the living room, looking helplessly at the shattered television.

He shakes his head and turns to head toward the bathroom. He knocks sharply on the door.]

I'm not cleaning this up by myself. Get out here and help, and explain yourself while you're at it. Are you listening to me?

[Blaine doesn't acknowledge him right away. He's too busy turning on the water and calming himself down. He doesn't want to lose control and end up breaking more things in their home. He doesn't even realize that's the least of his worries ( ... )

[Completely oblivious to what's happening in the living room, Kurt sighs in irritation, then raps on the door again. There's a lump in his throat and his eyes are prickling. Things had been going so well for a while, and now--]

For God's sake, just say something!

[Kurt's tone of voice just pisses off the shadow even more. He covers the distance between the living room and Kurt's body, shoving him up against the door. The sound of it rocks the wood and makes the real Blaine inside jump up.]

Kurt? [He asks, uncertain. It's the sound of his own voice that makes him freeze up for a moment, stunned.

The Shadow has Kurt pinned, one hand on the wood of the door, pressing into it. He's so mad at Kurt for being so pathetic sounding, for whining and begging.]

Why should I? [His voice is just like Blaine's, a perfect copy of him, except that Blaine would never talk to Kurt like that. He sounds like someone who's enjoying the fact that Kurt is helpless and vulnerable.] I know you want me to be perfect, but I don't have to do every little thing you say.

[Blaine, the real one, in the bathroom, grabs the doorknob and unlocks it to try to get to Kurt before he's hurt.]

Wh-what? [At the sound of footsteps, he spins around, facing the intruder for a split second before he's pushed up against the door. It happens so fast, but this person--it's unmistakably Blaine. It can't be, though, Blaine is--

Kurt sees the Darkness then, trailing behind Bl--no, it's not, it can't be Blaine, because he can hear the real Blaine behind him, and what the hell is going on--]

Let me go! [He struggles, starting to panic.]

[The door opens and Blaine tugs at Kurt to pull him into the bathroom. The Shadow lets him go, in part because he's not even really interested in Kurt. It's Blaine that makes him smile, though the expression is all wrong on that face. Blaine usually smiles in a way that's charming, excited or sweet, this sadistic grin on his own face makes Blaine's skin crawl]

Blaine, what is that? [He holds onto Blaine's arm tightly, wishing he hadn't left his gun in the bedroom. The way the other Blaine is looking at his boyfriend, though--

Kurt moves to stand in front of Blaine.]

What do you want?

[The Shadow turns it's attention onto Kurt. It's narrow slightly as he looks over Kurt's body.]

I want you to stop acting like that I'm weak. You don't have to fucking protect me all the time. [He slams his fist into the door frame] Get out of the way!

[Blaine grips Kurt's arm to push him aside. The bathroom is so small and they are trapped. He sees the Darkness consuming their apartment and has to swallow his panic.]

[Kurt isn't normally one to be hurt by words. A long history of bullying has immunized him to them, but this is different. This is Blaine's voice saying these things to him, and that makes it hurt much more than he expected. It's not Blaine, he reminds himself. It can't be...

He steps back, one hand closing around the fabric of Blaine's shirt. For once he has no idea what to do. Run for the bedroom and grab his gun? But then Blaine would be alone, and besides--could he even bring himself to turn a gun on something that had Blaine's face, Blaine's body, Blaine's voice--?]

Don't talk to him like that. [Blaine says, trying not to let his voice show how terrified he is.

The hands on the door frame bring the Darkness with them and it starts to spread over the walls. The Shadow laughs, sound mean.]

That's right I have to protect him, don't I? Even though he hardly ever cares about what I want.
