Now that the lunch rush has mostly been taken care of, though, she's decided to sprawl onto a float, hands trailing in the water. She has a bucket filled with ice and popsicles balanced precariously on her stomach, and she's methodically making her way through it, tucking discarded wrappers neatly together. She's already pink from exposure to the sun, a tan line running along her shoulder where her bikini top's strap has slid slightly off to the side. The bikini's bright red (and ruffled to enhance her relatively modest assets) to match the clip she still has in her hair, though the latter is already a mess from the wind and salt water.
She doesn't expect to be disturbed, considering most people are either occupied eating, preparing for the talent show, or playing with their friends. For now, she has this moment all to herself, and a chance to breathe. So far, so good. She has a lot to worry about, but that's all in the future. ]

She still had a pink bikini from last summer and thank god it still fit her fine. It wasn't hard to spot Yako, and soon enough she was swmming nearby her.]
Boo.

Hey, stranger. [ She grins, wiggling her fingers at Rochelle. ] What brings you out here?

[Rochelle grinned back and lightly took a hold of the float.]
Swimming. Figured I should check our your cool little party.

Oo' 'ant 'un? [ She grinned around the popsicle stuck in her mouth. ]

Oo-what-now?

[ She fished another one out of its wrapper. ] It's a great day to be outside, huh? Can't believe I forgot it was Father's Day...

[She laughed and got to unwrapping it--albeit a little awkwardly one handed, but she didn't and was off to eat it.]
Mmm--me too. The days go by REALLY fast on nice days. Even Father's Day.

If I was home right now, I'd probably be dusting off dad's picture right now. And cooking, because my mom can't cook worth anything.
What about you?
Reply
If everything was normal? We'd--[Her expression turned a little bittersweet.] We'd probably be having a big dinner.
Reply
[ Moving on-- ] We used to do the same. Did you have a big family?
Reply
[And another pause--] I did.

That must have been nice, having a lot of people around. I don't have any siblings, and my parents were too busy to take me to see any of our extended family most of the time.

He's here mainly to check on her, he has to admit. And also because the weather is finally getting better and he wouldn't mind a swim.
He doesn't get there particularly early and wanders around for a time, trying some of the food but mainly keeping to himself. Dressed in some blue swimming trunks and a pattered button-up shirt, he's definitely fit for the beach.
But no Yako. It's only when he nears the water that he finally spots her, and after smiling to himself for a moment he calls out.] Hey! Yako! [He hopes she can hear him over the waves.]

She hears her name being called in the distance. The voice isn't immediately familiar, but when she opens her eyes, she spots Shizuo instantly. ]
Heiwajima-san! [ She sits up straight and waves at him. The float's not far from the shore-- the water's only about waist-deep for someone of Shizuo's height. Glancing right and left, Yako's caught in the dilemma of either slipping off the float to join him on the shore or waiting to see if he'll join her in the water. Either way, his company is obviously welcome. ]

He pulls off the shirt he's wearing and then sets it down in the sand, placing a small rock over it to make sure that the wind doesn't blow it away. Once that's done he starts to wade into the water and then swims his way over to her once it's deep enough.
Once he reaches the float Shizuo stands again and runs his hands through his hair, enjoying the water. It's a bit cold still, but he's already getting used to it. Oh, and it might stand out that he's still got his sunglasses on. He's managed to keep his head above water for the most part.]
