FRIDAY thepull_npc May 13 2011, 14:10:44 UTC

Everything is running smoothly on schedule, with the weather a beautiful, sunny spring day. So come and watch some minstrels and puppeteers perform, try some hearth-baked meat pies, see the tradesmen at work, or take a photo in the stocks!

In the late afternoon, there is an event scheduled. A large banquet-style feast is set up by the fairgrounds' usual picnic table area, where the 'King' of the Festival (Governor Redgrave himself!) is due to make a costumed appearance. Surrounded by his usual bodyguard Voids, who are dressed today as knights, he will be ruddy faced and merry, out among the public for the first time in months.

However, the atmosphere is politically tense, and everyone from the bards and wenches to the lords and ladies, especially AGI affiliates, will be giving him a bit of a stink eye ( ... )

Harry Dresden and Mia Fey, open to tagging individually or together dresden4hire May 13 2011, 21:44:49 UTC
Harry had been looking forward to the Fair ever since he first heard about it. In fact, he had gone so far as to save up to purchase the all weekend pass. He also got a one day pass for Mia, who seemed very enthusiastic about the event also, including dressing up. Once he heard that, Harry had to scramble to find something to wear. Shopping off the rack was a bit difficult when you were almost 7 feet tall. He ended up renting a slightly pirate themed outfit for the day.

He was just slightly nervous, as this was very much an official date with Mia, and Harry couldn't help but feel awkward and slightly confused by beautiful women who showed interest in him. Never the less, he planned on enjoying the atmosphere and festivities.

Mia was the kind of person who rarely did things by halves, and her usual work clothes, while flattering, would hardly be appropriate for taking a break amidst festivities. She found it much easier to find something and then alter it until it was close enough to something appropriate - she still worked two jobs, after all.

She strolled up to Harry, smiling faintly and shielding her eyes with her hand. "Hello. You look quite dashing."

Stunning was an unfair adjective to describe how Mia looked. She always look stunning. The way she looked in the dress was beyond that though and Harry had to double check to make sure he wasn't just staring at her slack-jawed and drooling. If so, he was just going to play off the pirate angle and claim he was being in character.

"Yargh, ye be lookin'... like I be lackin' the words t'describe how amazing ye be, M'Lady. You do an old sea dog a kindness by accompanyin' him to the fair."

She was entirely used to staring, and had very nearly ceased to notice, but this was quite nice anyway.

Mia laughed lightly. "Don't be silly. I would never have come on my own, I should be thanking you."

"Well, you're very welcome to thank me if you'd like," he said, flashing her a smile.

"Have you ever been to one of these before? I love this place. I can walk around as much as I want without worrying about frying someone's computer or busting a hot water heater. Plus they have meat on a stick."

"Well, thank you." She glanced around briefly before answering again. "No, but surely there's nothing better than meat on a stick."

"You're very welcome, I'm glad you agreed to come," he said, pleased that she seemed to be enjoying it. Ren Fairs were a lot of fun, but not everyone really enjoyed them and got into them. It took a special kind of geek like Harry to do that.

"And meat on a stick with ale or mead is pretty good."

Mia was, in general, open to trying new things, especially now that things were falling back into place. Back when she'd been a lawyer in Los Angeles - it was so hard to imagine that was three years ago now - her best friend had been routine. Well, that and a good red wine.

"I have heard wonderful things about mead," she agreed amiably.

Harry's best friend had been God's chosen warrior and his vampire half-brother, but he still liked routine. It's when things weren't routine that things tried to kill him. Getting out with Mia was definitely a good change in routine though.

"A joust really isn't a joust if you don't have a good mead," he said. Offering his arm, he grinned at her. "Shall we get some, M'Lady?"

She smiled and took his arm gently, lifting her chin just barely to meet his eyes.

"That would be very nice, thank you."

Harry avoided his eyes quickly, not wanting to initiate a Soul Gaze with Mia. That would probably ruin their day, or at least put a damper on it.

"So where did you get such an amazing costume if you don't do this sort of thing regularly?" Harry asked.

Her memory was good, but she'd momentarily forgotten that she couldn't do that. Smiling to cover it up and beginning to walk slowly, she looked off away from him.

"I found a dress and I altered it a bit, that's all."

"It's... very flattering on you," he said. Of course, Mia had the kind of looks that would make anything look good on her but the dress complimented her... assets.

"You know, back home I knew a woman that made her own chain mail."

"Thank you." She shifted her hips obviously and grinned cheekily.

"Is that so?"

Harry did his best to ignore the obvious shifting of her hips with relative success. He mostly had to settle for noticing without being overly obvious about it, which was almost as good.

"She made it for her husband," he said. "He's a Knight of the Cross."
