[ With most of her hair tucked under a visor, Yako's standing out in the parking lot, a small cooler at her feet. She's got a cold drink in hand ready for any particularly parched-looking Newcomers coming her way. SERO's interrogations are a heck of a thing for anyone to wake up to, and she's sure one or two would appreciate something to quench their thirst. She's also taken to handing the things out to any fellow Greeters who look like they need it. ]

[The questions were rather interesting. Archangel apologized when he could not answer all of them properly. The world that he used to know was known only as Baroque, but that was not its true name. Era would be the twenty first century, but so much more advanced than what he saw now. The question that brought him pause was if he had been there before or not, Archangel could say that the world looked almost like the world of his world's past, but he decided it was easier to simply shake his head, 'no ( ... )

[ A warm, friendly smile spreads ako Yako's face before she nods, offering him a bottle of water-- cold enough that condensation drips down it's sides. ]

That's right-- I'm a Greeter. Welcome to Siren's Port! My name is Yako Katsuragi. [ It's a warmer welcome, she hopes, than what he received at SERO's hands. She could only imagine what that was like. ] If you have any questions at this point, I'll do my best to answer them.

[ His appearance didn't appear to cause her any alarm, though she appeared to be a perfectly ordinary human girl. Then again-- he would have no idea she'd seen all kinds of demons and criminals in her life, and there was little that could produce shock from her now. ]

It is nice to meet you, Yako. [His head nods slightly, gratefully, as he takes the bottle of water from her. He stares at the contents for a time, transfixed. There is no pure water in his world, anymore. What is given to him is something like -- ] Thank you for this.

I am Archangel. [A polite smile as he unscrews the cap to take a drink. He smiles to himself before finally carrying the conversation on beyond his name.] Anything would be appreciated at this point. Whatever it is that you wish to say.

[ The way he looks at that bottle of water is like he's never seen one in his life. For all she knows, he never has-- then again, Yako's not about to ask, though she does find herself looking a little curiously at the man. ]

You're welcome, Archangel. [ She pauses, thinking, before blurring out: ] Are you actually and angel? I know there are others in Siren's Port right now, but you're the first one I've met.

There are real angels here? [That is a bit of a surprise to him. Enough to almost drop what he is holding, but he has met the Absolute God. He supposes that he should not be so surprised.]

No. I am known as a False Angel. These wings of mine are fake. [The weight is familiar, but he reaches back to take them off to show that they are able to come off. His legs give out from under him almost immediately -- ah, so that is why he was not as weak as the others.

Of course, his wings were what kept him from feeling the full effects of the Core pulling him to this plane. The bottle of water drops from his hands as he is quick to slide the wings back in place. The nausea and weakness fade slowly before he is able to rise once more.]

Forgive me. I did not expect that sort of reaction to the removing of my wings.

Yes, there are real ange.... [ Yako trails off, sounding distracted, and for good reason; after all, the last thing he expects him to do is reach back and take off his wings--

She scrambles to try and catch him before he can fall on his face, the calluses on her fingers pressing into his arm as she starts to guide him over to a chair. She wonders how much of his body weight the wings make up. ]

You don't need to apologize, but I was afraid you were going to faint! You'd better not remove them again. [ Now she looks at him with more consideration and concern. ] I hope you don't mind me asking, but do those wings hold some kind of special property such as-- magic? Or are they some kind of life support system? [ When something in the Port couldn't be readily explained, magic or science was usually the cause. What kind of world did Archangel come from? ]

I thought I was going to, but I am not so light on my feet. [He did agree with her that it would be wise if he did not remove his wings so readily. His head shakes as he really should not have become so confident that his sheer will and what he had experienced was what had kept him from feeling the effects as he saw the others have.]

These are intimation wings imbued with both magic and science. [The two should not be mutually exclusive as he saw them.] Their very presence upon a person allows for the attributes within to reflect upon that person. [A quick explanation.] Still, I dropped the gift that you gave me, and I apologize for such.

Also for worrying you, it was not my intention to do so. You are worried enough as it is, aren't you? About those that are now arriving?

[ Wings that can grant their wearer strength-- he must come from a world either more technologically advanced or magical than her own. He seems so frail without them, and she wonders just how much of his strength they account for.

A gift-- she's surprised when she speaks. ] The water, you mean? Oh no-- you neednt apologize. It isn't difficult to get more of that if you're thirsty, though.

[ There's a pause as she considers what to say. She doesn't want to worry him unduly, and yet-- ] Maybe a little worried. You've been told about the Core, haven't you?

It is an amazing world. [His head shakes once, but does nod slightly to show that he accepts her offer.] In my world, there is no pure water.

[Which left the feasting off of the Meta-Beings, but he decides that it would be best not to indulge in such information.]

A little bit, yes. It is reminiscent of something that I know. I am glad there is only one, this means that the distortions are ... localized, yes?

[ A world with no pure water... Yako wonders what that must have been like, but decides her curiosity can wait. ] The effects are limited to the island and the area around it, as far as we know.

[ She moves away, briefly, to fetch him another bottle of water before she continues. ] Its not a good idea to move too far away from the Core-- you'll experience a phenomenon called the Pull. [ She spreads a hand over the center of her chest. ]<./small> It's a physical sensation that feels like... A tugging in your chest. The pain increases as you get farther away.

I see. [Localized distortions, just as he thought.]

A pain in one's heart, hm? [He nods slightly. There is a moment when he feels he should say that he understands that pain very well, but shakes his head.] I can only imagine how that must be for the people here. Still, you are greeting us kindly and with a smile.

Thank you, Yako.

It's no trouble-- this isn't my world either, so I know what it's like to feel a little lost. [ She pauses a moment to think. ] Were you given a NetVice? It's a device you can use to access the city's network, as well as speak with other residents-- it could take any form. A book, or a machine-- [ She waves towards him. ] Even your wings.

It's the easiest way of communicating around here, so if you don't have one, we'd probably better get you one... [ Not that she's ever met anyone who didn't have an NV. ]

How unfortunate, but it seems as though now you are found.

[A slight nod.]

Ah, I was given something. I had wondered as to why they gave me something so precious as though it were nothing. [Reaching into his pocket, he takes out a small, circular orb. It glows lightly and is pale white in shade.] In my world, this is known as an Idea Sephirah.

But holding it in my hand and looking on its inside, I know ... it is artificial in nature.

topslug May 6 2011, 03:35:40 UTC
An Idea Sephira? [ She echoes the name curiously, feeling half-buried knowledge stir at the back of her mind. ] What does it do?

Even if it's fake, I think it looks pretty. Do you think you could use it now, and see if you can access the network? [ She leans in close, elbows bumping against his-- the orb doesn't have any visible controls that she can see, so she's quite curious to know how it's going to be operated. ]
