nickname(s): Due to the fact that most people give up after the second or third try of his name, he let people call him "Thailand" or just "Thai" (a shorten form of "HEY THAT THAI GUY" )

occupation: Sous-chef in an upscale Thai fusion restaurant. Though the pay is good, the hours are long and exhausting. But hey, whatever that keep the food on the table.
residence: He lives by himself in an apartment in The Charleston. Due to his habit of cooking whenever he is upset or nervous (which can be at strange time like 2 in the morning), he found that he cannot be living with another person. So Aroon works full time to be able to pay his rent every month
family: He has a big family back home in Thailand and is trying to save enough money to go back and visit them one day. But to those who are close friends to him, he also consider them as families.

TEN TRUE FACTS AND A SECRET.
1) Aroon came to America shortly after he graduated from high school in Thailand to study to become a chef. Though he graduated with top marks from his class, his cooking style is very much based on the traditional methods that he learned from his mother when he was little. Using his family's connection, he was able to work in his current restaurant and climbed up the ladder until his present position as sous chef.
2) Aroon's English is...pretty bad. Since he have only recently came to the US, sometime he still don't understand slangs and phrases that people say, which make for some pretty interesting interaction with everyone. He also has a habit of stuttering and breaking into Thai often when he gets nervous or surprised.
3) The way to his heart is with food! Since he is a chef, he spends most of his time cooking and looking at new things to add to his recipes. His favorite thing to do is to try food from different culture, and can usually be found munching on something while walking around town. He also will try, and most of the time succeeds in forcing guests who visit him to eat until they're full.
4) His busiest working days at the restaurant are on Friday and Saturday, so often when friends try to drag him out on a night on the town on those two days, he will probably curl up somewhere in a corner and sleep off his exhaustion.
5) His favorite music to listen to when he is cooking is pop music from the 90's. Some of his favorites are The Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. Sometime when the head chef is away, he actually blast the music in the kitchen to "keep him concentrated" which usually amuse his coworkers greatly and traumatize the new people.
6) He has a small tattoo on his right hip with the phrase "ไม่เป็นไร" (Maipenrai), which mean "It's going to be okay". It represents the Thai way of thinking that "it's going to be okay, so keep on smiling". It's a symbol of his home and is one of the reasons for his famous constant smiling.
7) Aroon is actually pretty blind without his glasses. This came from the fact that when he was younger, he would keep on reading even when it got really dark. He still does that nowadays, actually. If he come home from work, and can't get to sleep, he'll probably be reading late into the night. (His favorite book is from Anthony Bourdain)
8) Aroon is obsessed with everything and anything with cute elephants. His favorite Disney movie is Dumbo. His chef coat actually has a little elephant pin that his mother sent him from Thailand. His bed sheet has little elephant prints on it and he might or might not have a little gray stuffed elephant named "Sofia".
9) Though he is very, VERY carefree and friendly the majority of the time. There is one thing that Aroon can not stand. That is if you talk bad about his parents. Once you do that, it's really hard to calm him down and talk to him rationally. When he get angry, he get really flustered and start talking almost completely in Thai anyway, so it's hard to even understand him.
10) The thing that most people notice first about Aroon is his smile. He smiles constantly. This come from being born and raised in Thailand where the famous "Thai smile" is everywhere and the "Maipenrai" philosophy. The only time that he isn't smiling is when something is so serious that he snaps out of his smiling mood. Not many people see that side of him (fortunately). He will only break down emotionally in front of people who he trusts enough to.
Secret Back in Thailand, there are not very many discrimination against homosexual relationship, so Aroon grew up thinking that it was perfectly fine and natural to be in a relationship with anyone, regardless of what gender they are. Though he has had many casual flings in the past, he has not established a stable relationship yet. What he wants the most is someone to spend time with and cook together. But for the moment, his work comes first, so there isn't very much time for him to pursue anyone romantically.
