Leaving the "L" word house....
Due to some fortunate and not so fortunate circumstances, I am giving notice at my current homeshare situation. My 6th month lease is up as of March 1st, and we are now on month to month.
Fortunate circumstances: I want to move nearer to Chris, and there are a lot of affordable apartment opportunities in Auburn. Some other pros for living outside of Seattle would be, lower car insurance, being able to take Sounder [FREE] each day to work thereby saving wear, tear, and gas for the car. Plus I like snoozing on the train.
Not so fortunate: Well -- we've had intermittent water outages at my current residence. It's been a no water thing for going on three weeks. Alice's hot water heater finally gave up the ghost. For a while there was cold water so you could use the facilities, but now the water has been completely shut off so Alice and her gf can do the necessary work.
Back a few months round Christmas the water [and electricity] had gone out because of the storm, I was okay with that. Even when she was out of town in Florida during that time. Al didn't hurry back...but that was cool because a lot of Seattle area people were without electricity because of the storm.
This time though, she's taking her time to fix things because she wants to do it herself, save money and learn how to install a hot water on demand system. It's a complex project so that is why it is taking her so long to fix. Plus it will really be cool for her once it is done. So, I understand and respect her side of it, but I have to respect myself and my comfort more.
The more I think about it, the more it seems like the best choice.
