...maybe i should drink less, and call ex-boyfriends less. just a thought. while i'm swinging on the plaza tomorrow... or sleeping in... or envious of every couple on the planet... etc.
My office is going to need a couple of part-time writer-folks in the near future.
1) Copywriter - for PR materials and the fun fluffy stuff we throw at people at trade shows. We've got a very junior copywriter who's been helping us out on a piecework basis, but the bossman wants someone a little more seasoned. Bonus points for anyone with education copywriting in their background. Strictly contractor, as needed - we've got a need for a few pieces right now (I'm guessing about twenty hours' work) with more as we barrel through sales and conference season. As the company is moving into offering some new services, it means we're going to need materials to go with it - materials with, y'know, words on it and stuff.
2) Project Editor - this would be part time with the possibility (nay, probability) of some weeks being 40 hours or close to it, and a chance of being taken on as a full-time, regular staffer come mid-February - but definitely contractor until then. The PE position is kinda tricky. As the name suggests, it's one part editing and re-writing (proofing and sometimes polishing text from clients, depending on their service level) and one part project management - chasing down those same clients to provide the material we need - and a dollop of customer service, too, as the PE is the 'face person' to the client's representative. No selling or anything, but lots of smiling sweeting while wielding a pointy stick and a red pen.
I have no idea what the pay is. It's a small biz, and based off what I'm getting, I'm guessing the pay ain't grandiose - but I will attest for the grooviness factor of the place, and they're really nice folks, especially the editorial crew.
Any writerly folk with an interest in education would be, of course, the best fit.
If you're interested, drop me a cover letter and rez to johanna.mead(at)schoolwisepress.com - I'm not sure how fast we're moving on the hiring, but I've been asked to start looking, albeit in a low-key way...
Feel free to forward the above to anyone you think might be interested.
