Yay! I'm relieved to hear that you liked it. So relieved. I was very worried. I tried to get some Dean/John bonding in there, but Dean just insisted that he would not talk about Mom. 'Don't talk about Mom' seems pretty deeply ingrained in adult Dean, and I think that started really early, I think he got it from John, but rather inadvertently, learning from John's example. And in the end, I have to write what the characters tell me.

The abandonment issues, being suddenly shuffled around as a child, that's a part of Dean I can really relate to, and I think maybe it came across in the fic. Getting into five year old Dean's head for this was entirely too easy for me. I was just reading the Supernatural Origins comic books and it had John leaving Dean with someone while he went off hunting, and I immediately seized on the fact that John didn't realize what that would do to Dean, and I am 100% certain beyond any doubt that Dean would be REALLY affected by that. Anyway, it morphed into a fic here for you, and I'm glad it emotionally moved you.
