The grocer didn’t steer you wrong. He was so perfect for highlighting Dean’s mistrust of authority...of anyone for that matter and what I really loved about him was that he seemed so real - I feel like I’ve met that guy. He was a very charitable fellow but not over the top cuddly nice. Once he figured out what was going on he respected Dean’s boundaries without pushing for info - just gave with no questions asked.
Your in tune-ness with it came through so well and timeframe wise, that’s just one more thing I love about Supernatural - age wise I fall in between the two boys so basically any reference from their childhood is one I also remember from mine and in a less extreme way there is just so much about their lives that is relatable.
It's clear to me in the show that he considers himself worthless and never, ever good enough no matter what he does. I really think he believes he deserves every punishment John ever gives him, and probably some more.
Exactly! And you know it’s why I love Dean. That and he does it all under that supposedly confident exterior of his.
This does have an excellent potential starting point for the hustling lifestyle and I could see that John started Dean in it so young that it was a confusing thing to him, but maybe by the time he started Sam into it (or just because Sam lacked Dean’s idol worship of John), that Sam didn’t see the grey area that Dean saw - he only knew it wasn’t something people were supposed to do.
You seriously managed to hit on everything here so I think it’s safe to say that you more than pulled it off beautifully. And of course, you know I'll always have to like 'Bugs' for this.
