The Price of Primping
So tonight at the football game it was truely rubbed in the new level of hotness we're encountering here. i think it was easier for girls to be hot in highschool. after joking about making plans tomorrow to bleach our hair and get liposuction/implants tomorrow, we sat in kelly-ann's room and started actually thinking about all of the grooming that a lot of these girls who naturally wouldn't be that pretty go through to get the look; exactly what is the price of primping? We made a list of all of the things girls have done with their hair, skin and bodies to get their desired appearance,to be hot, and our list of expenses came to, with tax, $402.80 per month. This doesn't include any of the designer makeup, clothing or accessories that go along with the look. This is purely physical alterations. Some may have to come close to selling their souls, almost literally, to support this upkeep. Not to mention the time and stress that go into it, but all the plastics tonight were with hot guys: they were wanted by guys they wanted and were confident. Some may argue that their lack of confidence in the first place is why they feel they have to look like this, but by changing the way the look, they fixed this lack of confidence and now fit in perfectly, even if they all look the same. "But is just getting laid by guys you won't remember the next day- but are hot- what you really want?" Michael asked. No, of course not. But almost every woman grooms herself boyond the basis of purely basic, necessary hygene- and why? because every woman, in some way, wants to be looked at like that once in a while, and is willing to put up with the hassel, and to pay that price- the price of primping, the price of confidence. Perhaps the expenditures are an extreme, for they entail every single cosmetic process that a normal girl would pay for, but most don't subscribe to the whole set- just the ones they need(/want) the most. Perhaps "true beauty is on the inside", but that doesn't mean that girls want to feel ugly on the outside. Just like we, as a society, generally seek inner peace and self-improvement, sometimes, a girl just wants a little piece of outer-improvement to help her feel as pretty on the outside as she is on the inside. And don't lie boys- you were looking at those girls during rush week.
