Cute Conversation

I was driving somewhere with Aislinn and suddenly she said asks me, "Mommy, when you were little, was there a fire in your house?"

"Yes, there was."

"Did you run out of your house when it was on fire?"

"Yes, I did."

"That was smart! Good!" Says Aislinn, obviously very impressed with her mommy's brilliance. "Did the firefighters come to your house, Mommy?"

"Yes, they did."

"You shouldn't be afraid of firefighters. They help you."

"You're right. You're such a smartie, Aislinn. Do you know that?"

(Aislinn knows that.)

"How did the firefighters get rid of the fire in your house?"

"They used water from their hoses and a special powder that put out the fire."

"How does water make fire go away?"

Uh-oh....That's a good question. I never really thought about it, actually. Does it deprive the fire of oxygen? Hmm.....This is the point when we say, "Let's ask Daddy when he gets home."

aislinn, the roof is on fire
