It's a little like finding a gold ring in your Crackerjack box

Odessa got sick, fast. Within two days, she was gone. Kidney failure sucks. It's not fair that any creature can be poisoned by food. Augen knows this all too well.

We went to North Shore Animal League on Saturday morning. We spent an hour with the dogs/puppies. That place was hopping. Just when we thought we might not find *the* dog, we saw a puppy that hadn't been there five minutes earlier. He sat in his crate, calm as can be, watching the world with the most thoughtful expression on his face. A true philosopher. We got to meet him, and it was instant love. His tag had a letter and some numbers, and declared him to be a retriever/terrier mix, and said he needed TLC. We said we'll take him.

The shelter vet said he has an upper respiratory infection, and he's underweight. We named him Hermes.

Today, Hermes met his real doggy doctor, who said he has mild pneumonia, but he's been given the correct antibiotics. He's about 10 weeks old, and it is very possible that he's actually a husky.
