I am making hats in case I have to start wearing them all the time if I lose my hair, and I have to say that most of the hat patterns you can find at Joann's and those sorts of stores are really depressingly unfashionable. Like, look like Jafar turbans or look like an elf at Christmas with points but no "hey, this hat could be on a decent person and not look ridiculous." I've got one from when a bunch of us made hats for Laura's wedding that is okay, and I'm working on it right now, but I can't wear nothing but fleece hats until I'm done with this, as I will be REALLY uncomfortable if this isn't done by June or so...
I wish hats were still in style all the time so they'd be easier to find/make. Because really, if women wore hats all the time still I'd not just have the choice between ski caps and elves and buying realllllly expensive church lady hats from Neiman Marcus.
Boo JFK for stopping wearing hats and being charismatic enough to convince the rest of the world it was a good idea!
