- grown men. in suits. carrying man-bags. on scooters.
- free stuff! whether it's gum, or energy drinks, or flowers (2 weeks ago, it was yellow tulips from lasalle bank), or BREAKFAST (THANK YOU HONEY BUNCHES OF OATS GIRL! - you RULE!) - people give all kinds of promotional stuff away in this city, and i happen to usually be in the middle of it.
- when it's nice outside (like it is today), there's no better place to be.
- eye-candy out the wazoo.
- when i move? in JULY? it will be 20 minutes away, instead of an HOUR and 20 minutes away. more about this moving nonsense later on.
- food? drinks? shopping? entertainment? - all you could ever want in that realm is out the door and down the street. literally.
- so is the beach. i can see it out my window and you can JUST GUESS where i will be spending my extended lunch hours in july.
on some unrelated notes, my mom had her first chemo treatment on thursday, and her first "shot that encourages white blood cell growth" on friday, and spent the weekend sleeping and being really really goddamn tired when she wasn't sleeping. she described the feeling as "like being hit by a truck." but aside from feeling worn down, she's more or less alright.
mother's day is next sunday, and if she feels up to it, we're gonna take her to the zoo, because the woman LOVES the zoo. it is seriously adorable how much she likes it.
the day BEFORE said mom-related zoo excursion (that would be saturday, the 12th), myself and my roommate-to-be are heading up to our new house/apartment/two-flat to sign our lease, take a lot of measurements, and drink profusely in celebratory fashion. once i have all the details worked out, i promise there will be pictures and specifics galore, but you'll have to take my word for it - it's ENORMOUS and GORGEOUS and in the cutest damn neighborhood EVER.
