so the swelling in my face has started to go down - finally. the pain in my jaw remains though, so i have limited facial mobility, at least in terms of how wide my jaw can open. blah...i'm totally running out of things to say and THIS is the reason i don't update as often as i used to. people that "blog" (i HATE that word) every day...i don't know how they do it.
anyway, my birthday is on friday, and i figured i'd keep things slightly low-key the night-of. i planned to stay in the burbs and go to alumni club, and have a good time and run into people i knew or kind of knew, or didn't know at all (and make new friends). and then saturday, i figured i'd go downtown with emboz and andrea and go to rush & division. and run up and down the street and get a little bit wasted. or slightly more than a little bit wasted. either, or. :)
TOP TEN THINGS I ACTUALLY LEARNED IN COLLEGE
- Drunk honesty is often easier, and sometimes more productive than sober honesty.
- It is completely possible to drink yourself sober.
- Do not buy the books assigned for a class without first making sure if you will actually need them. Failing to do so will cause you to waste about $400 in one fell swoop.
- Eye contact is heavily under-rated as a means of meeting new people. Sometimes that's literally all it takes.
- Leave your house. Join clubs. Meet people. Make a big big place a little smaller.
- Even a shitty shitty dive bar (ahem, KAM'S?) can be an amazing time.
- Sleep is the master cure for all evils.
- Live every day as though it were your last week of college. View every new situation as though you were in your first week of college.
- Never underestimate the people you meet, or the completely random situations in which you meet them (facebook!). These people may turn into some of your closest friends.
- College is where you figure out who you are. It's where you learn what you want out of life, and become aware of what you can truly do. Where you should do everything you ever wanted to do, because you will never be so carefree and irresponsible again. Learn who you are, what you can do, and what you want.
